In the provided ZIP file there are 2 folders. MAPS folder: unzipped into <user>\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\Mods (Creates a new folder called MAPS in the Mods directory). Designs folder: unzipped into <user>\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3 (Merges with an existing folder).
Then you need to restart GalCiv3 and start a new game (doesn't show up with existing games).
I can't get the module to show up. I put the MAP file in the mod folder, I merged the Design folder with the Design folder .... nothing is showing in game. All the other mods i have installed work without issue.
Thank you very much for this mod. It's a bit broken from an absolute balance standpoint, but the headache it saves is well worth it. Now I don't have to have half a dozen tertiary systems pumping out cargo hulls with as many tacked-on constructor modules as I can fit. One tweak I did make in my own game is bumping its construction points value up to 2, so that the top-tier 2-cost modules don't require me to locate and park a pair of MAPs. Increased the cost a bit too, just as a way of placating my guilty conscience.
Also, the designs you included are amazing. Sadly, my toaster of a laptop can barely handle them, so I don't see them in all their glory as much as I'd like to. That said, I'm not certain the AI knows what to do with them. The few I traded to them just sat around next to my shipyards they were sold from, and I've seen them parked various places and in the AI trade screens but without seeing any fully or even significantly upgraded starbases around. Is there some way of flagging a ship to player-only, or preventing the AI from using it?
There are some options I can explore to prevent the AI from building them but that requires changes to base game files to render the module unavailable to the AI. I'll take another look and see what I can come up with.
I can't figure out how to use it. do I attack or xplore or what? Thank you. (also super awesome idea. I hate constructor spamming. I usually end up making 10x constructors)
It's a constructor module that does not get used up when upgrading starbases but cannot be used to build them initially. The included ships are just there for fun and to have something thematic to use with the module.
nice.. very very nice add to the game. Now if can only figure out something to do with the worthless planets in the game that would also be very good. thanx for doing and posting.
