Changelogs
Version 1.0
Initial version.
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, though it is oft claimed to be harkening back to the Famicom/NES original but with modern quality of life, nevertheless includes much of the difficulty rebalancing from various subsequent rereleases and remasters. The inclusion of Phoenix Downs at all (let alone usable in battle and available for purchase!); enemy HP, EXP and Gil levels; and many other changes have been made from that original version, many of which originated in the Easy Mode of Final Fantasy Origins (for the PlayStation) or from the Dawn of Souls edition (for the Game Boy Advance).
One such change that did not get carried over, however, was the increased spell levels from Origins' Easy Mode. Rather than maxing out at 9 spell charges per level, as the original did and as Origins' Normal Mode did, Easy Mode maxed out at 99 charges per level, and mages also gained far more spell charges per experience level gained, making magic use far more practical. (Using Cure to heal outside of battle, for instance, is a lot more feasible when you have 24 charges as opposed to, like, 5.) For those who might prefer that experience, I've created this mod.
Note that this restores Easy Mode-accurate spell levels only to the mage classes (Red Mage/Wizard, White Mage/Wizard, Black Mage/Wizard). The two fighting classes that can use magic (Knight and Ninja) are set up to gain spell charges per level differently, in a way that I couldn't figure out how to make work for this mod. Thus I've left them as they are in vanilla, which means that they should gain spells as they do in vanilla (one charge every other level), just with a max of 99 instead of 9. This is similar to how they worked in Easy Mode, just not 100% accurate the way the others are.
One caveat: Since the menu is designed to display one digit rather than two, fonts with particularly wide numbers may not display them correctly in all menus. The values will still be correct, however!
Installation: This mod requires Magicite. Extract it into your main FINAL FANTASY PR folder.
