About this mod

Overhaul of in-game soundtrack

Permissions and credits
This mod aims to change the musical score of Final Fantasy IX in all of its entirety, while keeping the general mood intact.

After countless playthroughs of Final Fantasy IX, I somewhat found myself wishing for a bit more diversity in my experience, and thanks to the Moogles & Mods community on discord I figured out how to mod audio files of the game. To explain things in a bit more detailed way, Final Fantasy IX Rescored operates in one  of two distinct ways:

1 – By swapping scores one another, such in the case of the Beatrix boss theme swapped with her regular music theme "Rose of May", or even taking them by other Final Fantasy related media. This last approach was taken for example with the Dark Messenger score, which got replaced by the J-E-N-O-V-A theme  from Advent Children.

2 – Changing the score completely with another new one, usually searched on youtube with the keywords "epic music" or "orchestral music". While following this particular approach, I tried to keep in mind one important thing: while sountrack is getting replaced, the new tracks MUST have the same feeling of the  original ones, to some extent.

Every track is carefully hand picked and edited for better results and the maximum possible enjoyment. Or, at least, what I would consider the maximum  enjoyment. I hope the same applies to you.

Even so you could still experience vanilla music in some parts of the game (like, for example, in the FMV where Blank gets petrified), and most importantly the last FMV, where the "Behind the Door" soundtrack should play. For some reason, the previous track "Inseparable Hearts" overlaps that music and Melodies of life during the credits, creating a nasty and chaotic effect. So I preferred to leave that track alone.

INSTALLATION

Note: Memoria Engine is MANDATORY for this to work, I will not support or encourage any other usage of my mod outside of this. You have been warned, so  don't ask me to explain how to make this work without Memoria. Now the installation proper:

1 – Assuming youalready have Memoria installed, just drop the FinalFantasyIXRescored folder inside the game's root folder, where "FF9_Launcher.exe" is located
2 – Open yourMemoria.ini file, and just below the [Mod] section you should see "FolderNames =" and "Priority". At the end of "FolderNames" insert the name of the Rescored folder, like so:

3 – Open FF9_Launcher.exe and click on "Install Mods", and make sure my mod is checked as active. Also, make sure its priority is higher than MoguriSoundtrack mod.

Finally, a big thanks to Tirlititi for explaining to me how to mod Final Fantasy IX music, and for providing a list of the soundtrack titles with their respective file names. Links for used tracks are found under the DOC section
