About this mod
Replaces all the non-fight scene music on the sector 7 plate with various renditions of the original FFVII composer Nobuo Uematsu's Music. Most importantly swaps the out of place embarrassing 80's cringe music they play during the parachute jump cutscene, though the other scenes are improved as well, feeling more like FFVII even in this new chapter
- Permissions and credits
Swapped the initial 7 plate music with Ahead on our Way from the FFVII Jazz album, swapped the sneaking into Jessie's house with the remake version of Lurking in the Darkness, swapped Jessie's mom scene with remake happier version of Ahead on our Way and tapered the ending so the switch is smoother to the sad music for the Jessie's dad exposition (remake tracks jarringly jerk to the next track here and often in the game when you really pay attention), which was swapped for a remake sad rendition of Ahead on our Way.
The tragic 80s music for the parachute cutscene was replaced with the version of the main FFVII theme from the Jazz album. I think it matches pretty nicely moment to moment, though of course it's not perfect in terms of timing as it wasn't paced to match the scene. I'm open to suggestions for a better fit for this bit since anything is better than what they did originally, but this was the best I could find after much experimention (barring writing a whole new cue).
Now with an optional version that replaces the parachute scene music only in case there's a demand for that, since that's the only music that was egregiously out of place and the other stuff while not great was acceptable.
The bonus upside of these mods beyond a better music experience is that it makes the game have a much more authentic FFVII vibe.
I highly recommend pairing this with Altezein's nice mod that fixes the motorcycle mini game in this chapter in a similar way:
