Hey guys since we're all interested in this type of mod I have created the ULTIMATE HARD MODE save file (atleast for me:)) This clears all my problems. The save file is a new run after a normal game play through was just completed . Not a fake hard mode which pretends to be a normal that has all the issues we faced with the IRON BLADE and IFRIT materia.
I have added what I deem to be the funnest and fairest way to play the game on hard mode with actually a semi complete utility set that doesn't make you feel overpowered and makes the game FUN as f*#@ to progress through. I believe this is out hard mode should have been created. Check this out:
- You start from level 1 (after first encounter the game levels you up to 7)
You have the following materia available :
- Healing/Revival/Fire/Lighting (its only fair for hard mode to have revival. fire/lighting/heals ? are base cloud and barret anyways)
?- 2xMagnify/2xWarding/2xSynergy (you have no idea how fun it is for cloud and barret to synergiize each other in the beginning. ITS PERFECT and your damage is balanced)
- AP materia to pick and choose what you wanna prioritize to level
?- Assess/Chakra/Prayer (the best part is that this save file I used does not have the intel missions completed so you can basically enjoy procedurally earning new material from them alongisde summons as well
- 3x Refocus (using Refocus for early game is badass and much needed since you take so much damage and do so little. trust me wait for sweeper... Refocus gives you 3 atbs with chakra and prayer is awesome for hardmode) ? - Ifrit summon (this effectively destroys the issue of not having ifrit on hard mode)
- All weapons unlocked however you cannot gain further SP unless you surpass level 35 (you have all the weapon utilities some of which you still have to master as I now effectively solved the nastiest problem of them all. FIXING THE IRONBLADE. now you have it and all moves. ENJOY
- No Manuscripts. (this is incredible because you can actually now get all the manuscripts and all items/missions in 1 playthrough!!!!!!

Has anyone figured out how to learn their weapon abilities using this mod? For me, the bar never shows up, even after save editing in the Iron Sword. The same goes for other characters. I wonder if the tutorial for weapon abilities and the unlocking of them is tied to the scene in which you acquire the iron sword.
Beautiful mod and please note that its not possible to acquire IRON BLADE which therefore means its not possible to use TIRIPLE SLASH (which is a cloud specialty in my opinion) since the game thinks you have already acquired it in hard mode. Is it possible to make it viable from the possible the same way you did with chakra. That way your mod will be PERFECT
also shouldn't the game start with the previous three manuscripts obtained in the normal playthrough or will it be processed as well through this hard one?
The page of the save file I based this off states that it should be possible to acquire weapons like Iron Blade as if you're playing through Normal Mode for the first time. I haven't gotten far enough in my game to confirm because I'm stuck at the fight against the first sweeper. But I'm being promoted for tutorials which isn't done in hard mode, so I'm guessing you should be good to acquire the Iron Blade. The only way I can think of to give the Iron Blade would be to edit the save so you have it in your inventory from the beginning, but then you have it before you even reach the slums. And please don't give me any credit. All I did was use a save editor to give myself Chakra just to make it a little bit easier.

THATS A PERFECT SOLUTION. It would be highly appreciated if you would do that because it seems to be the only issue I faced so far and having iron blade from the beginning is fine and doesn't break immersion since you cant level it with SP anyways until you reach chapter 3 . So can you please edit the save and provide one with the iron blade from the beginning. It would be awesome and you have my complete respect and thanks all the more for it
BTW also note that the IFRIT summon materia is missing as well so when you when you edit the save to have the iron blade from the beginning, please make sure to add the ifrit summon as well or else the game by normal hard mode progression would assume that you already have it
I appreciate the input but this isn't something I was anticipating on maintaining. I liked something that somebody else did, had difficulty because I suck at the game, and made a very slight change to try and make the fights a little bit more accessible. I decided to share it because I thought it was something that others may enjoy. Feel free to edit your save file as you see fit.
