This is a temporary solution for reducing the overexposed lighting from the game using ReShade until the modding community is able to find a way to directly modify the lighting from the game files. This mod should be helpful if you find vanilla lighting is too bright and causing eye strain even when in-game brightness is set to the lowest 0.
Installation: Drop the "reshade-shaders" folder and "FF7R_Reduce_overexposed light.ini" in Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\End\Binaries\Win64.
In the game, press "Home" key to show ReShade panel, select the preset "FF7R_Reduce_overexposed light".
Please note that the lighting transition effect from indoor to outdoor is still present but won't be as bright as vanilla.
Troubleshooting: If you have other mods that are using "dxgi.dll", rename ReShade's "dxgi.dll" to "d3d12.dll" to avoid conflict with them.
