by DefinitiveDubs

UPDATE 3/19/25: v2.1 released:
-Fixed syntax error. Now works with update 1.2.0. Thanks, gvdn01!

UPDATE 1/30/25: v2.0 released:
-Proper 1.1.0 support (no missing text for new features).
-Optional CTBF version included, making the other mod obsolete.
-Terminology updated to match most (but not all) of the Consistent Terminology mod by Yoshitsune. I made some edits of my own:
-Yang's job title is now "Master Monk".
-Edge's lightning ninjutsu is now "Raiton".
-Yang's wife is now "Sheila", as in The Complete Collection.
-Many descriptions reverted back to vanilla as they are more descriptive.
-Music track names now more closely match official soundtrack.

-Redone formatting across the board. No more awkward line breaks, except for signs.
-Fixed various typos/errors.

-Bundle version and Memoria support dropped. Mod now requires Magicite.
-Added a small easter egg. You know where it is ;)

DESCRIPTION

------------
This mod inserts the localization from the 3D remake of Final Fantasy IV (by Tom Slattery, hence the name) into FFIV Pixel Remaster. This includes all dialogue, locations, spells, equipment, monsters, and descriptions. Every line has been ported by hand one-by-one.

Keep in mind that the remake's script, even in Japanese, is very different from the original game. Certain lines are said by different characters as well, which I tried to replicate here. Some plot details and dialogue added to the remake were also included as best as I could. Please also note that if you are using a font mod, larger fonts might screw with the text formatting. I've tried making it as compatible for larger fonts as I could, but still, use caution.

Many grueling, tedious hours were spent making this mod. I did not do this because I enjoyed it. I did it because it needed to be done. Please let me know if I missed anything or there's a bug, because I'm sure at least one or two lines got screwed up along the way.

(This mod has been exclusive to the VG Research & Modding Discord for several months, I am just now uploading it here. The reason I didn't earlier? Pure laziness.)

NOTE: The font seen in screenshots is FOT-NewCezanne Pro B.

Special Thanks to the following:
-Enfyve and DarthNemesis for their invaluable tools on extracting the remake's text. This mod would not have been possible without them.
-Lazarus_DS for retranslating certain lines that exist in PR but not the remake.
-FF Wiki, for having a comprehensive list of monster/spell names across different versions.
-Alice Grimaude for providing an endgame save for me to use in testing.
-The good people at fearlessrevolution.com for providing cheat engine tables to get through the remake easier for testing.
-Barbanium for his hard work creating a CTBF-compatible version, and fixing some of the original typos/errors.
-Yoshitsune for the Consistent Terminology mod.
