More dramatic/fantasy/somber music selection for the game world, as well as removing certain intrusive cluttering and context-specific music to make for a more consistent experience. Made up of under-utilized music files already in the game.
This mod only affects in-game and menu BGM; it is not intended to interfere with the musical direction of any story cutscenes.
Removed music primarily consists of some over the top happy-go-lucky tracks, awfully stereotyped fake country bgm, unconvincing repetitive town tracks, and most importantly to me; the awful chocobo music. The game in some moments may feel a little lifeless from this but I believe it is a necessary sacrifice to experience a definitive and tangible musical direction to this game, and I truly prefer that over the poorly organised mess of an experience the vanilla music selection offers. The tracks I selected to remove felt to me mostly contrived and superficially placed in the game world, which only made it harder to immerse in the sporadic occurrences of actual music.
I made this mod for my own personal enjoyment; if you think it's overboard, feel free to upload your own changes to this mod. All you need to do is swap .mab track files like any other files.
