Right before the fall of the Garlean Empire, their engineers had started to make and the Legions had started to field these firearms in several configurations, usually to officers, pilots of their various Magitek vehicles or those who fielded their artillery.
After the fall of the Garlean Empire, as this design was so close to the end of the war, the iconography of who originally made these firearms was lost to time, and the design itself was quickly picked up by the Ironworks with former Garlean engineers, under the name of the 'Garlond-Pistol-88'.
The inner workings of the firearm were made originally to work with just Garlean Magitek, however, the newer Garlond Models are compatible with the Aetherotransformers used by Machinists across Eorzea, allowing the user to shoot it to the fullest extent.
