Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where can I get help?
A: Either in the post sections of the mod page here, or in the modding discord server here.

Q: Where can I report a bug?
A: Same as above, either in the posts section of the mod page, or in the modding discord server. Please provide as much information as possible about how you encountered the bug in order to receive the best possible help. If I can confirm the bug, I will add it to the list of known issues.

Q: Nothing is working, what am I missing?
A: Make sure you didn't miss the deploy notification in the top right in Vortex when installing the mod. Also recheck if the mod requirements are up to date. If it still doesn't work, check out the hook.log file in the game/x64 directory. If it contains anything unusual, create a paste in pastebin and send me the link.

Q: What does the vanilla tag mean in the changelogs?
A: The term vanilla refers to a version of the game without any modifications. So when the tag is used as part of an entry in the changelog, it means that an issue in the base game was resolved instead of one that was caused by this mod.

Q: Why is The Insurgent's Manifesto required?
A: Because it fixes a lot of issues in the vanilla game that this mod depends on. This include guests having no Chocobo riding animations, or animations for other weapon types than their normal one, duplicated party members in cutscenes, and much more.

Q: Why is it that I cannot exit the menu in some cases?
A: There is a limit of 4 active and 5 reserved party members. So if the party consists of 7 party members in total, 2 of them must be active. If you do not get a proper message notifying you of this, then you have most likely overwritten this mod with another.

Q: Is it possible to have more than four party members?
A: No, four is the absolute maximum. This is embedded into hundreds of functions, as well as the save, making it practically impossible to increase.

Q: (Esper With Full Party) Why can't I summon an Esper in some cases?
A: An esper can only be summoned if there is a slot available for it. So the party can either consist of 4 party members (incl./excl. guests), or 3 party members and an esper. If you do not get a proper message notifying you of this, then you have most likely overwritten this mod with another.

Q: (Esper With Full Party) Since the Esper takes the 4th party member slot on summon anyway, couldn't it automatically switch the 4th party member in and out without requiring a player to do that manually via the menu?
A: These comes with a number of problems. The most offensive being that the 4th party member summoning an Esper would result in the Esper immediately being dismissed. There is also the argument that characters placed lower than others in the party list (Penelo<Vaan) have a significant disadvantage cause they are more likely to be replaced by an Esper. There are also a lot of functions in the the game that treat the 4th party member like a Chocobo or Esper. So just ignoring those could also cause issues. All in all, it's sadly too troublesome.

Q: (Collect Guest Equipment) I am stuck with a lot of guest equipment that isn't sellable. Is there any other way to get rid of them?
A: Yes, you can do that with the inventory editor of The Insurgent's Toolkit. Sadly, I cannot change whether an equipment is sellable or not as that would either create compatibility issues with overhaul mods, or force me to overwrite their changes which is also not good. Therefore a change like this is out of scope of this mod.

Q: (Collect Guest Equipment) Why do some guest equipment not get added to the inventory even if this option is enabled?
A: You can only acquire the first 420 out of 556 equipment from the game. There is no space available in the save game for the others. These are usually equipment of foes, but sometimes also that of guests like Reddas or Larsa. That's why their equipment is always temporary either way.

Q: (Collect Guest Equipment) I have given a guest (e.g. Reddas) a new off-hand equipment and now I cannot revert it any more because their equipment is missing from my inventory. Is there any way to restore it?
A: Yes, you can do that by either talking to Dalan in Dalan's House, or via the reset equipment feature from the party editor of The Insurgent's Toolkit. Their equipment also resets if they leave and rejoin the party.

Known Issues

Party In Towns: Some party members are duplicated in a few, mainly town related cutscenes. This happens because the developers didn't bother with hiding the party as usually only Vaan is seen inside towns anyway. It only happens in around 10% of cutscenes. Nevertheless, I will definitely fix them over time. However, since these are rather vanilla game bugs, the fixes will be done in the required mod The Insurgent's Manifesto, so make sure to keep track of that. If you encounter any cutscenes like this, I would appreciate it if you report them with as much detail as possible.
