It is far easier to chat in there than the multiple disparate threads on a per-mod basis.  The Nexus forums are also really minimalistic/bleh compared to Discord.
Discord is a voice & text chatting service that is free, easy to use, and very broadly compatible/accessible from nearly anywhere with internet access and a web browser (or smartphone).
You can run Discord via the downloadable client, in a web browser, or as a mobile app (or all 3 at once if you like).

Even if you aren't a modder, we could use testers and people to provide feedback on mods, utilities, etc.  Just be sure to play nice and not ping the modders too often ^_^
