1. DESCRIPTION

Also available for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Far Cry 4!

Far Cry 3 uses a variable level of Anisotropic Filtering with a minimum of 2x and a maximum of 8x on Ultra. The level of filtering is assigned per-surface - in other words, most surfaces get 2x/4x AF (eg cloth, skin, weapons, most props) and some get 8x AF (eg ground).

This mod edits a config file so that the game always uses 16x Anisotropic Filtering, on any surface that makes use of it. This has virtually no performance impact, unless you are using a very old GPU.

Since the "Texture" setting does double-duty and controls both texture resolution & filtering, you will only get the full benefits of this mod by setting Textures to "High" in the graphics menu.

This mod makes the engine use a higher AF value natively, it won't lead to any undesirable behavior - unlike forcing AF from your GPU control panel.

2. INSTALLATION

- With FC Mod Installer (Should also apply to Vortex):

Download the version labelled "FC Mod Installer". Open the mod's archive then locate the Mod Installer folder, and extract Fixed 16x Anisotropic Filtering.a3 to ModifiedFilesFC3. Click Install at the bottom of the window, and you're done!
For Vortex Mod Manager, click the "Mod Manager Download" button.

1. Pre-packaged Patch. Ideal if you only want to use this mod. Download the version labelled as "Patch".
Open the archive you downloaded, then drag the Patch.dat and Patch.fat in the "data_win32" folder, which is located in your game's installation folder. That's it!

2. Loose files (for merged mods). Download the version labelled as "Loose Files".
Open the archive you downloaded. Drag and drop the "engine" folder in your unpacked patch folder and build your patch. That's it!
