Yup you'll need to backup the original files - I recommend doing this before installing any mods.

I have a question! Is there a way how to extract needed cutscenes from the game files? For example, I need to extract Vaas's monologue. Where is the needed file and how can I extract that? I would be so grateful for the answer, thanks!

Hello, the cutscene files are in the fc3_main archives and can be unpacked using Gibbed.Dunia2.Unpack for FC3. Once unpacked, the cutscene files will be in the "sequences" folder. To extract audio though, you'll need DecUbiSnd. You can get the name of the audio .spk files used in the cutscenes from the cutscene sequence (.cseq) file.

As I understand, you are talking about the audio file, but cutscenes are audio + video. And I would like to know one thing. Is there a way how to get a cutscene (mp4 or bik) from the game files. Now I found a way how to do that but it's so complicated. I removed the file with voice acting and recorded needed cutscenes with a recording tool. It took so much time and I wouldn't like to do like that in future. So now I'm looking for the way how to do it faster :(

I suppose I didn't understand you correctly. Is yes, how can I decode .cseq files? Is there a special tool to get needed mp4 or bik files???

The cutscene sequences use a proprietary format, only able to be read by the game engine. There is no way to get a generic video file from a cutscene file. You can only extract audio easily. Only a few of the cutscenes use bik.

kinda late here but can't you just grab some streaming software and enable it when you get to where you want to rip then use the file likely in several video formats to demux audio or video or etc? Seems easier than messing with the games files themselves. Or better yet go to yt lookup fc3 cutscenes, grab a link go to dl site grab it or get a yt downloader, get .mp4 done.

Nice. Unskippable stuff always makes my blood boil.

If skipping the cutscene is too "risky", how about "fast forwaed" the cutscene?

Late reply but while the engine does support that, it brings the same issues (and the dialog plays very loudly and completely out of order).

Is there a chance you make a version where you have to press the button (such as Enter or Esc) to skip the cutscene, so it'll work like in other games?

I thought about it, but in the end there were too many potential issues. The cutscenes are not meant to be skipped in the first place, they're an integral part of the game's mission scripting. If you allow people to skip them at any point in the cutscene, it opens up a whole lot of new issues where they can softlock the game or experience other bugs.

It can be done, especially since anyone can use this mod as a starting point, but I won't do it. Even doing it this way was complicated enough, and I'm done working on the mod.

Hi again. Didn't really want to bother you, but I have one more (and I hope final) question for you. I wanna remove fast travel from the game (I already did it) so I'd like to change part of the "Harvest the Jungle" mission, where Jason have to fast travel to Amanaki and meet with Dennis (after killing 2 boars and collecting 3 plans). I wanna make it so that I need to return to him without fast travel. What file do i need to edit, jas_080_main.jas_080_main.lua or jas_080_b30.jas_080_b30.lua? Or something else altogether?

To change the display message you need to edit oasisstrings_compressed.bin

I wanted to try and make it on my own...  (P.S. I see my thoughts were moving in the right direction). Thanks a lot anyway.
Yeah, I already edited oasisstrings_compressed.bin, removed both hint massage boxes and changed some mission objectives.
      Thanks one more time.

I didn't know where to send you looking until I investigated and found the fix for myself, and simply telling you which file to edit wouldn't have been terribly helpful because you were already on the right path. The change is still simple enough for you to learn from IMO.

I'm still just learning how to work with missions, so even such simple changes are still an experience for me. I just looked at the jas_080_b30.jas_080_b30.lua and realized it is a fast travel part of the mission, but wasn't entirely sure how to edit it correctly.
And now I can't find the file that is responsible for the message that fast travel isn't available. I wanna remove it. I didn't find anything in the domino folder, so I believe it isn't there.
Thanks for the help one more time. Now, with your help, I'm a lot closer to finishing my mod. I hope I will be able to survive this war and finish it so that a couple of years of work won't be wasted.

Didn't realise you were from Ukraine, I really feel for you and the situation you're going through, and I hope everything is okay and continues to stay that way.

About the fast travel message that pops up when it's disabled, removing it is not a simple process, you need to reverse the function that calls the message using tools like IDA, then patch it out of the DLL. Best of luck.

It's OK, don't worry. So far we have been quite successful in defending ourselves and hope for the best. Thanks to other countries for their support. What scares me the most isn't the war itself, but what the Russians do to women, children, and civilians in general. Their actions have angered many people here and they're ready to fight even more. Fortunately, the situation in my region is more or less calm. I continue to go to work and my house is still intact.

Thanks for the hint. I see that the idea of removing that message isn't so simple, so I'll postpone it for better times) I have other ideas that I can work on (unfortunately Gibbed Tools works against me).
