A large rock extends out of the ocean with a beach around the base and multiple paths to the top. This map is for the X-Box 360.
- Permissions and credits
First off, if posting a 360 map with no file is against the ToS I will remove this immediately. And as a long time Nexus member I'm pretty sure that makes this a ToS violation. If it is a ToS violation please consider changing this rule!! There really aren't many great sites to show off console maps. (read through the ToS and unless I missed it this SEEMS to be okay to me).
Also, the screenshots are from an early Beta of the map. They show the GENERAL layout of the map but 2/5ths of the map is missing from the most of the pictures as well as a TON of detail objects, cover and completely new spawns. The Birds Eye view is almost 100% what you're getting when you download this map. Also, credit for this photo goes to FALLEN CHAMP of the official FC forums who was kind enough to do an in depth review of an early version of this map.
Okay, on to the map. The map is nonsymetrical, kinda semi-circular and 2 tiered. The focus of the map is the "weathered rock" shown in the thumbnail. There is a beach with forested cliffs going around half the weathered rock. From the beach level there are 6 different ways to get to the top (4 unique and 2 branching). Most of the paths don't rely on ladders and allow you to keep your gun out. I tried to make it so it would be very hard for a team to control the top of the rock by camping the ways up. Much of the cover visible on top of the rock in the thumbnail is no longer there to make it harder for teams to entrench themselves.
To get to the top there are a few obvious options and some hidden ones. The obvious ones are the long vine near the over hang (completely exposed while climbing), A HUGE stone arch leading to a narrow and exposed wooden bridge (good cover on each end of the bridge) and the wooden stair case visible in the thumbnail which is now mostly hidden by a rock formation. The stairs and the stone arch are VERY easy to traverse even in the midst of a firefight.
Then there are some less obvious ways such as the cave up the middle of the rock which involves some easy platforming and a hidden vine on the stone arch.
From the top of the rock there are 3 pools of water you can jump into safely for a fast escape.
I spent quite a bit of time playing around with the line of sight and cover on the beach level. There are long lines of sight but they are pretty narrow so most snipers won't want to camp them too long. The beach level is designed for mid range weapons while the top of the rock is obviously for sniping. I did add a few sniper spots around the base that were built to keep the snipers on the top in check but not give a huge advantage over people on the beach.
This map makes extensive use of rocks on the beach and I made sure to test every freaking nook and cranny under every condition I could think of to make sure the map ALWAYS plays smoothly. There are VERY few places where you'll get a little hiccup while walking and I believe I've found and taken care of all spots where it was possible to get stuck.
I went crazy adding detail to this map to make sure that it looks good AND plays well. No detail objects should obstruct game play at all.
The map supports all game modes but is really only designed for TDM and Domination.

Version 7 is now up and the map has been renamed "Weathered Rock 8113". From now on ALL my maps will have 8113 in them to make them easy to search for. Version 7:
- Tweaked the objectives to make them a bit more balanced
- Added even more detail objects

- Minor tweaks to some spawns.
