Permissions and credits
Tired of searching through the web for INI tweaks?
This tool is featuring an intuitive UI that allows for quick tweaks before jumping into the game.
It is written in C# and the source code is available on GitHub.

  • Install and manage mods.
  • Change your resolution and display mode.
  • Disable VSync.
  • Change various graphic settings.
  • Mouse sensitivity fix for ALL aspect ratios.
  • Change your FOV. (I know there is an ingame slider. It only applies to 3rd person FOV, though)
  • Change the color and resolution of your Pipboy.
  • Some other tweaks and options.
  • Makes a backup before applying.
  • Make *.ini files read-only.

This program is running on .NET Framework 4.7.2
It should be preinstalled on Windows.
If you can't start the tool, you may have to install it manually: .NET Framework 4.7.2 web installer

  1. If you haven't already, start the game to generate all *.ini files.
  2. Download and unzip/install. (Portable *.zip or setup)
  3. Run and tweak to your heart's content.
  4. Don't forget to hit "Apply".

Tool and *.ini files

Can I be kicked for using INI tweaks?

As long as you don't use FOV and graphic tweaks in Nuclear Winter ("soft cheats"), you should be fine.

Does the tool read the *.ini files or does it overwrite them?
Yes, it reads the *.ini files on startup, and sets all checkboxes, sliders, and stuff according to the values.
If it can't find a value, it will use it's default.

How do I update the tool?
o update, just
  • click on "Update now!"
  • or download the latest Setup file from the "Files" tab and run it.
  • or download the latest *.zip file and extract it.

Do translations for older versions work with newer versions of the tool?
Yes! However, new elements aren't translated yet.

Where does the tool store it's config, log, and language files?
As of v1.6, the tool stores it's config.ini and log files under C:\Users\<your name>\Documents\Fallout 76 Quick Configuration.
The language files are stored in the languages subfolder.

Mod files and the manifest.xml are stored in the game's directory.
You might need to start the tool with administrator rights to grant write permission.

Prior versions store a QuickConfiguration.ini in C:\Users\<your name>\Documents\My Games\Fallout 76.

Mod manager

What about mods?
You can install and manage mods with this tool.

Can I be banned for using mods?
This is the statement of Bethesda: Bethesda Support Page
Apparently, nobody has been banned for using mods for now.
Just don't use any programs like Reshade or Cheat Engine, as people have been already banned for this.
Keep in mind that this situation might change at any moment. There has been ban waves in the past.

Where is the Fallout76.exe located?
For Steam, look under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout76\.
For Bethesda.net, look under C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda.net Launcher\games\Fallout76\.

If you still can't find it, you can also open the folder via Steam:
Right-click the game and select "Properties". Under "Local files" you'll find the button "Browse local files"

How to completely disable mods?
Check "Disable mods" and click on "Deploy". All mods will be removed.
The sResourceIndexFileList will temporarly be saved in config.ini instead of the Fallout76Custom.ini, so you don't lose your manually installed mods.

What happens to mods I've installed manually?
The tool won't touch these mods.
If you want to manage them, you can import them: File > Import installed mods

Do I need Archive2?
No, it's included.

VSync doesn't work, I still experience screen tearing
I've had multiple reports about this issue and I don't know what causes this.
The tool technically only changes iPresentInterval. It sets it to 0 (off) or 1 (on).
Setting it to 2 or above results in a black screen.
If you experience this issue, try deleting all *.ini files in C:\Users\<you>\Documents\My Games\Fallout 76\.

bundled_textures.ba2 is missing
Please look into archive2.log.txt.
If you can spot "System.AggregateException", then one or more of your mods might have corrupted *.dds files.
Use "Tools > Repair all *.dds files" to repair ALL *.dds files.
Select a mod, click on the pen to edit mod details, and click on "Repair *.dds files".
NOTE: This might take a while, so grab a coffee or a snack... or both.
