Apologies. Life has prevented me from gaming and modding for almost a year now and that is likely to remain the case. Because of that, I'm providing
carte blanche permission for any modder to use any resources from my
mods for their own creations. Just provide credit and a link to the original mod. Regarding permissions, most of my mods are extensions of work done by others.  You will need their permission to use any assets in my mods that were originally created by others. Enjoy, and keep the modding love alive.

This is an older mod and is ONLY compatible with NanoSuit 4.1. I have not updated it to be compatible with Nanosuit 5.0 because a) NS5.0 added/changed files/structure, requiring more work and b) keyword formlist limit issues. If I can figure out how to use existing (vs. new) keywords to support this feature, I may update this mod in future, otherwise it is now as-is. If you are having problems with this mod and are still using ONLY NS4.1, I will still try to offer support, but it may take me a bit because I have to uninstall a number of mods to revert my own game in order to work with this mod.

Newest version 1.3. Re-Download suggested.

FOUR main file options: (2) 1.21 Vanilla & AWKCR/AE, (2) 1.3 Vanilla & AWKCR/AE - be sure to choose the right file for your set-up and your game play style.
v1.3:  Thanks to some excellent guidance from VlitS, I was able to change the file so that only sex-appropriate color change options for the Nanosuit show in armor workbench armor modifications choices (color change options for the opposite sex will not show up, and changed colors will not carry over if suit is given to an opposite sex companion). Everything else is the same as  1.21, so you really only need 1.3 if seeing suit-color options for the  opposite sex bothers you.
v1.21: Does not use a sex-checking condition for crafting the Nanosuit color change. If you play a character of one sex but regularly have a companion of the opposite sex and want to craft color-changed suits for opposite sex companions, it is easier to stick with v1.21 of this mod which by default always displays both male and female suit color options.

COLOR CHANGE and GLOW OPTIONS NOW WORKING

  • 4 colors: Black, Green, Red, and White (based on Vasstek's original texture
  • 5 glow options: No Glow (color only), Blue, Fuchsia, Red, White
  • Vanilla and AWKCR/Armorsmith Extended versions
  • FORMLIST KEYWORD CAP ISSUE FOR CRAFTING MENUS: please note that this mod adds 4 custom kewords to implement color changing. If you use a large number of keyword-dependent mods this may push you toward or over the keyword cap. For a more complete & more informed discussion of keyword issues related to clothing/armor and weapon mods, check out the sticky post "IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE FORMLIST CAP BUG" in the discussion for Gambit's Armorsmith Extended mod.

This is NOT a standalone mod. This is a COLOR CHANGER

This mod requires
NANOSUIT 4.1 by Vasstek. Get it, get it now, how can you live without it, it's a great mod.  All of the creative work, design, texturing and so on were done by Vasstek.  NOTE: This mod is not designed for the updated Nanosuit 5.0. Such a mod may come to pass, but it depends on my other time commitments because color changers are a time sink.

What does this mod do?  This mod removes the dilemma of having to choose just one of Vasstek's brilliant textures for the Nanosuit, Nanogloves, and Nanohelmet.
  • immersive color selection for Nanosuit, Nanogloves, and Nanohelmet
  • supports male and female Nanosuits
  • Two versions
1) Vanilla version - 100% vanilla keywords
2) AWKCR (1.71) and Armorsmith Extended (2.71) compatible
  • Requires both AWKCR & AE if you want to use this version. I didn't make separate AWKCR & AE versions because frankly it was easier for me. Also, this way my mod plays nice with Gambit's Armorsmith Prototypes Extended (which I can't recommend enough). If anyone want to separate these they are welcome to do so.

This mod almost does for the Nanosuit what Kerrigan Bodysuit Color Changer did for the Kerrigan Bodysuit. Without these mods, my own mod would never have been born. I say almost because I haven't finished adding all the options.

While this mod works, it is very basic and is still very much a WIP. This version of the mod is strictly VANILLA. It does not change any of the stats from Vasstek's original mod. The Nanosuit, Nanogloves, and Nanohelmet remain craftable at the chemistry stationCrafting recipes and requirements and additional armor addons from Vasstek's original mod have not been touched. You must install the original mod if you want anything to appear/work.

Additions:
This mod adds the ability to dynamically change the color of the Nano suit, gloves, and helmet in game by adding new armor modifications which can be constructed/applied at the vanilla armor workbench. These have the extremely creative names in the form of "Item name color glow option".  Unfortunately item names do not yet dynamically change when my color changing mods are applied.

**NOTE: there are actually TWO color change options for the Nanosuit - one for males and one for females. You will see both when modding the Nanosuit at the armor workbench. Be sure to choose the correct option for your character's sex. If your suit fails to change after you've applied a color change, you probably selected the option for the wrong sex.

Installation:
1. Download and install Nanosuit 4.1 Standalone Full package FOMOD and install normally. Be sure to select the Nanohelmet as well. It is required for the color changer and you will CTD if you forget. I suggest  installing black as the default for both the suit and helmet, but it doesn't really matter (now that I fixed the missing black version).
1b. If using the AWKCR & AE version, be sure you have the most recent versions of these mods installed and active or you will crash.
2. Download and install my color changer mod. Recommended to install with NMM. When asked, allow the the color changer to overwrite files from Vasstek's mod (no worries, the overwrites are the exact same files, just included with this mod because it was easier for me).

Aesthetic Issyes:
1. There are small colored portions of all suits that DO NOT CHANGE when you change the glow - this is part of Vasstek's original textures and I didn't change it.
2. There is some minor clipping  of the gloves into/thru the sleeves which is only noticeable for certain combinations when you use different color suits and gloves. This is part of the original mod that was never an issue previously because it wasn't originally designed to be mix and match.

FYI Note:
My mod includes all of the resources (meshes, textures, materials) that Vasstek used in the original mod as well as (removed in current version) additional textures and materials files. Additional files are not used (yet). They are for as/when I expend color/glow selections. If you really want, you can delete these extra textures and materials files, just be sure you know what you're doing.

All of my Nano variations, additions, and patches.
Nanosuit (4.1) Color Changer
NanoArmor 2.0 AWKCR and Armorsmith Extended patch
Nanosuit 5.0 AWKCR and Armorsmith Extended patch
NanoHelmet & NanoMask Variations

Plans:

The following are in the works
- AWKCR & Armorsmith Extended comparability versions -- working, at least for the basic 4 colors and 4 glows
- craftable glow options for the Nanosuit, gloves, and helmet -- working, 4 glows, more to come
- adding additional color options for Nanosuit, gloves, and helmet  -- Abandoned: 1) New Nanosuit 5.0 (not compatible) and 2) problems with keyword limit (which color changers contribute to)
- videos
- NOT in the works: Project Commonwealth. This mod looks amazing, but I haven't had any time to play with it. If anyone wants to make a version/patch of my mod for P.Comm. just let me know and more power to you (probably you want to contact Vasstek also).

CREDITS:
Vasstek for Nanosuit 4.1 (and previous versions, and recolors - which are coming later)
flaicher for Kerrigan Bodysuit Color Changer which I shamelessly ripped apart and copied in order to get my mod working.

F.A.Q.(ish)
How was it done?
Everything was done with blood, sweat, tears, TONS of swearing, more tears, and oh yeah, FO4edit (thanks to that team as well).

Why?
Because I've been a Nexus Mods leech since Skyrim and thought I should give something back beside semi-useful comments on other (mods creative) peoples' mods.

Still why?
Because I'm trying to learn the tools. I don't (yet?) have the skills for creating or editing meshes. I can do re-textures and I'm getting fairly good at troubleshooting things so the play well together, so I'll give it a go.

Even more why?
Because I couldn't be arsed to choose just one color for these beautifully crafted pieces and I saw that others felt the same way.

How fast will new additions and/or versions be uploaded? How frequently do you check your comments, bugs, messages, etc.
Well, I'm a husband, and a father, and a grad student in a non-computer, non-graphic related field, and I probably shouldn't even be working on this or playing Fallout, or writing long, half-serious FAQs, so I might be slow - but I'll try to at least check in every few days (even if I'm not uploading anything new).
And, if my experience with this mod proves anything, I'm also prone to accidentally delete files and have to recreate them.

A real question - will this work with mod XYZ?
Short answer ???  Long answer ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Basically, I'm not sure. I use a feckin ton of mods, which I change on the regular, and it works for me. It uses all vanilla keywords, so there's that. When I finish the AWKCR &/or AE versions
comparability should be extended.

Brain dead now . . . If any addition questions pop up regularly, I'll add them here.
