The Junkernaughts are a new type of raider enemy that are added to many Raider spawn areas. They can appear with unique armor items made from cobbled together junk that are slightly better than normal raider armor. They will give better components when scrapped.
Balance:
This will increase the early game difficulty slightly for some raider areas, but it also increases the rewards, especially for the Sole Survivors who enjoy to build and craft. Junkernaughts are set to match player level and cap at 50. Scrap shouldn't matter as much by then, and it seemed needless to have bullet sponges when the rewards stop mattering.
Junkernaught Armor:
The armor pieces are original meshes and textures that are supposed to look like the junk items found in the game. I did take the opportunity to be creative and add some new tools and such, but I think it all fits well from a lore-friendly perspective.
Compatibility:
It shouldn't have any compatibility issues even with other raider mods. The Junkernaughts use their own level lists with the exception of the guns and sometime using vanilla raider armor. Any mod adding to or changing those will be represented. As for raider overhaul mods, these enemies shouldn't be affected much.
Future Plans:
Future plans include adding new pieces for all the armor slots and eventually adding specific Junkernaught armors for the Rust Devils and Far Harbors Trappers. The Nuka World raiders are very distinct already. I will also be adding some boss Junkernaughts with unique legendary gear. I'm already working on one for the first update.
I'm hoping to update with a new piece of armor monthly if interest justifies it. Making armor from discarded items of the pre-war world is conceptually interesting.
