Does anyone know if .fuz files (or .xwm) are handled differently in Fallout 4 than Skyrim?

I've made voice replacer mods for Skyrim before with no issue using tools like unfuzer and audacity with no problem.

Now I'm trying to make a DiMA voice replacer, and I've done everything exactly the same.  Everything is perfect, from conversion (to and from) to file structure.  (Yes, believe me, I've verified my work about six times by now, it is flawless).

But my modified voice doesn't apply in my game.  I'm using Mod Organizer and I've followed the same "rules" as always, the same file structure, the same EVEYRTHING as every other voice replacer I've ever done for games like Skyrim, Oblivion and Fallout, and even checked other sound mods for Fallout 4 in my load order and everything checks out.

But goddammit, for whatever reason these files just won't apply in my Fallout 4 game.  Did something change in Fallout 4 I'm unaware of?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Thank you, works just perfect! Intuitive, fast and does the job well. Helped me composing my own soundtrack for the game. Endorsed.

Having a problem here. I'm trying to convert a large mp3 file (70MB - over a half hour long) to XWM format, and I keep getting an error.

[19] Error: Unable to convert sound file. External command xWMAEncode.exe error. ExitCode: -2147221501
FAILED to encode 362739532 bytes of 48kPcm16BitStereo data to xWMA (bitrate 48000)
Converting C:\Users\User1\Desktop\YakitoriAudioConverter\Temp\npq2iwco.pui.wav to C:\Users\User1\Desktop\YakitoriAudioConverter\Temp\npq2iwco.pui.xwm failed with error interface-specific: 0x80040003 (Unknown error)

Smaller files convert without any problems, but this file gives the error every time.

Hi Canus, Thanks for the report.
As you say, it seems that large sound files can not be converted to xwm. This error is caused by Microsoft's xwmaencoder.exe. This command seems to have an upper limit on the size of the audio file. I found a workaround, so please try it:
      1. Input Format: Select "audio files (ffmpeg)". If there is no item, please install ffmpeg.exe in the Yakitori folder.
      2. ffmpeg general audio decoder settings / Sampling frequency: Select 22.05KHz
      3. xWMAEncode xwm encoder settings / Bitrate : Select 32kbps
      4. Do convert
There is a possibility that the sound quality will be a bit poor, but I do not know any other method. Sorry.

YES IT WORKS !!! I Tested 3 different xwm converters before finding this message for the conversion of long audio files (Yes I used the term "long", not "heavy" or "big" : they all work perfectly with files up to 100 Mo and more ten minutes long but won't work with a 42 Mo 40 minutes long audio). But this solution worked perfectly ! Thank you so much ! 3 years later this is still useful !

Hi, I thought we could combine Unfuzer, xWMAEncode and ffmpeg to make a batch, but Unfuzer doesn't seem to have an option to create a new fuz.
I'll provide simple commands to convert fuz and xwm+lip, so wait a few days. But you will need to use xWMAEncode and ffmpeg to convert xwm to other audio formats. The parameters of these commands can be found in the command line in the left pane of the Yakitori GUI.

EDIT: The tool has been uploaded to the Optional Files section.

Thanks amber1019, yeah VLC seems not to handle xwm very well. Anyway, happy modding!

[4] Error: Unable to convert sound file. External command xWMAEncode.exe error. ExitCode: -1073741515, CmdParam: /b 20000 "C:\Users\danie\Desktop\YakitoriAudioConverter\Temp\4dt3japl.vvs.wav" "C:\Users\danie\Desktop\YakitoriAudioConverter\Temp\4dt3japl.vvs.xwm"

How exactly does one get to the ffmpeg file? I first have to convert mp3 to ffmpeg to further convert it to xwm? actually needs only xvm for fallout 4? Back in GTA SA it was easier ^^

If you have a complaint, tell Bethesda who chose xwm instead of mp3. Anyway, it may be possible to convert by changing bitrate to 32k or 48k.
