About this mod

Overhauls lockpicking to be similar to Skyrim. Pins no longer break and all difficulty locks are pickable.

With this installed, when you boot into a save, you'll be given a perk via script called Lock Breaker. This perk allows you to pick any level lock and makes it so your bobby pins never break. That is the good part.

The bad part is that the sweet spot is now much smaller.

Some locks are total ass to pick though. The default sweet spot variable for an easy lock was 80, that shit is 12.5 now. Default Very Hard was 20, shits 5 now. Basically all locks are going to be harder than a Very Hard lock was by default. Seeing as your pin won't snap though, you just have to fiddle with it a bunch and waste a bunch of time, like you do IRL. Shit ain't fun.

I've alleviated this a bit by leaving the default Locksmith perk untouched, and left everything else lockpicking perk and skill wise untouched for mod compatibility and such. Finding magazines and stuff will still be the way they were before. Picking any level lock though now rewards a nice cache of XP, not too overpowered, but an incentive, especially early game, to actually do it. I have also placed 7 special bobby pins that are totally normal and not suspicious in any way, located in relatively safe and early locations, for the most part. I have also placed a magazine, Tumblers Today - Lock Breaking for Dummies, in the satellite array Ophelia near Concord. This magazine gives double the bonus of a special bobby pin.

As mentioned before, the new Very Hard tier of lock is a stat of 5, down from 20. Each of these totally normal and not suspicious bobby pins give +2.5 to that number, and when you find one and pick it up, it'll pop up and tell you the default stats, as well as letting you know which number pin it is, there are 7. It's just like picking up a bobblehead.

I have also added a cheat code tool you have to work for, a Bump Screwdriver located in Fort Hagen right by the ladder outside. It gives you a 100% chance of auto picking a lock. Use it if you want, I think its weak to do so but hey if you want to its there. Everything added up should be a 22.5 bonus in sweetspot size, so Very Hard goes from 5 to 27.5 and Easy goes from 12.5 to 35, much nicer, huh? Worth collecting them all. Best part is you don't even have to save them, once you collect them, you can be the cheap bastard that we all desire to be and go and sell each of them for 100 per pin. 900 caps, 100 for the magazine, and 100 for the screwdriver, 700 for the pins.

On pickup they add perks that stack so, that's how it works. Don't need the items. I have also looked towards the future in a save where you only need one bobby pin. Per every bobby pin, once you collect the screwdriver, you can actually craft "Uber Pins" at a chemistry bench, 1 to 1. 1 bobby pin can be converted to an Uber Pin, which is worth 10 caps, much more than the average bobby.

You can do variable amounts as well, not just 1 to 1. You can do 5 to 5 and 25 to 25 and so on, for those of you who collect a lot in your travels. This system lets you have a reason to keep collecting them, might as well, right? Some easy caps there.

I HIGHLY recommend a mod that unpauses menus for some real thief challenge and immersion. If you are sneaking around in the dark and you got the stress of a patrol snooping around, oh boy let me tell you..

All items can be crafted at a chemistry bench under "Utility" for 100 pins (sometimes + other things), incase the items are missing from where they are placed or some bullshit happens.

Directly conflicts with other mods that mess with lockpicking.

May cause problems if loaded AFTER previs and precombine regen mods.
LOAD BEFORE them.

Locations are:
One in Sanctuary in your Nate/Nora's house, to the left on the shelf right when you walk in the front door.
One in the Red Rocket where Dogmeat is normally found, right on the shelf that you can see through the window on the inside of the building.
One is in Lexington beneath a fella who caught the fade playing basketball.
One is at Starlight Drive In, at the bar.
One is on the railing of the bridge, beneath a lightpost, by Hangman's Alley coming from MIT. The same bridge where you find the raider in power armor usually. Check the last lightpost on the right side of the bridge if you are heading towards Diamond City.
One is at everyone's favorite location, Kingsport Lighthouse, in the shed on the dock. On the workbench/table inside the shed right by the hammer.
The last one is located in Mystic Pines, at the desk just hanging out there, kind of on the inside area of the desk, hard to miss.

The magazine is at Satellite Array Ophelia, right when you walk in, on the desk by the computer, super hard to miss.

The screwdriver is in Fort Hagen, right by the ladder to the outside, right on the cabinet by the boxes. This lets you craft the Uber Pins.
