That is actually why that wise ass Wiseman and friends took over this location a long, long time ago, as in a Wasteland, a location with a water filtration system is prime real estate.
That old silly story where Wiseman claims to have only been floating around the area after being booted from DC...
Turns out, these cheeky ghouls have been running some kind chem/pharma production business for some time while telling people they are just berry farming....
Yep, that explains the centuries long strong supply of chems for the Commonwealth, apparently.
With a solid supply of income, repurposed construction equipment from the quarry, actual standing up buildings, and plenty of open land for growing food, the Slog is a Wasteland stronghold, a Township worth visiting, perhaps joining or even taking over.
This Mod Does:
- Upgrades the old pond scum looking settlement, making it look like its own neighborhood area worth people settling, while keeping to the FO4 look and feel.
- Fixes up the Diner, it now has a custom vendor named "Shelagh" who has a pet cat.
- Extended the Toy shop.
- Upgraded the existing pool house building, added a pool room, a laundry and made it more lively in a scummy way.
- Added a pharmacy with its own Shady custom vendor.
- Adds 2 new settlers who are, um, indentured.
- Adds 3 new unique named beefed up settlement guards who don't actually count towards/take up settlement population count but will stick around defending.
- Added Guard Hut Zones, with their own styling, suitable for The Slog.
- Added a brahmin pen, for collecting all of that yummy fertilizer and chem gases.
- Added a razor-grain farm, you can never have enough food growing justifying a settlements existence.
- Added an extension to the piss poor farm plot that was already there, also extended the tarberry pool.
- Added jukeboxes that are hardwired to play DCR.
- Added a massive jerry-rigged water pump filter system.
- Added a building shop front area that has been repurposed and kitted out, accessible by the player.
- Added a bus station up behind the slog, part of the settlement, part of the chem trade, not part but fully accessible by the player.
- Added yet another shops zone, a bit run down, these buildings are locked to the player, they just more imply people, if you call them that, probably live inside.
- Added a massive brick and concrete walkway that backs onto the river and provides support for the farm ground. (Sim Settlements 3x3 plots can fit on top of the walkway.)
- Added heaps of flattish building ground for normal workshop mode or SS2.
- Added a few work benches.
- Added heaps of beds, showers and toilets, as this is a preexisting township taking advantaged of pre-war amenities.
- Added a lot of stuff, but not too much that might make it seem stupid, just enough to make The Slog look like a well lived in, protected Township Settlement.
- Adjusted the outfits of the vanilla Slog settlers to represent them better.
- All work benches crops, water pumps, the generator and beds are linked to the settlement workbench, so they are all part of the actual settlement.
- Significantly increased workshop build area.
- Moved spawn and NPC markers to properly line up with the settlement.
- The increased settlement and the new layout is SS2 compatible. (linked all cells within the build area to the settlement).
Also:
- I redid the Nav-Mesh in places where it was needed for new buildings and ground layouts so that NPCs can actually move around the chem farm.
- I used Creation Kits terrain tools making the layout more suitable for building plots.
- Everything added is from the base game and DLC's, so everything is lore friendly and how the mod is able to be so small.
- This mod aesthetically upgrades the image of The Slog, making the
township worth your time working with, becoming allied with or invading.
- Places like The Slog should be self-sustained, built up
township/settlements that already survived without the player building
every little thing for them.
Notes:
- Best to use on a new play through or one where you have not been into the grid/cell area of The Slog yet. (Still fine to actually use mid play through)
- If you use PRP, you'll probably have to load this after it as with other location edit mods or mods that also edit this area.
- This mod was made with pre-next-gen Creation kit and FO4 - version 1.10.163.0
- No other mods are needed. Only the base game and all pre-next-gen DLC's excluding Bethesda's "HD texture Pack DLC".
