This is a list of mods and tools that change the fallout 4 experience into something more modern and immersive while staying true to the lore. tested using Old-Gen only.

This mod-list is very modular, Lore friendly and easily configurable through the MCM. i disliked how easy it was to glide through vanilla on survival, i like the good old days of fallout 1 & 2 where things were BRUTAL.
if you are really new to modding then look at The Midnight Ride, or A StoryWealth both are very competent guides to getting set up to use mod organizer 2 or vortex and feeling comfortable with the formats, then attempt this when you are ready for more of a challenge. i run the game in 3840x2160 and i only really get major stutters in downtown Boston, but nothing worth getting salty over.
Yes there are a lot of mods, no i cant guarantee they will all work on your setup, you will need to do a little due diligence when finding out what your hardware can handle. i also use Fortect to fix DLL errors and maintain my PC and i am pretty happy with it so far. there is also Razer Cortex which you can use for eeking out a little bit more stability.

BSA Browser - adds a right click feature to unpack bsa/ba2 files or you can use Unpackrr, apparently you don't have to worry about ba2 limit with buffout and X-cell, just be aware of it.

i also use Reshade - & ReShade Integration with NEXT GEN RESHADE - and i use GVCM to fine tune.
one thing you need to be careful of if you load everything in at once is a weird save bug, please take the following steps to avoid it. when you start a new game, wait for everything to load in, save, load into that save, and save again, restart the game and load the most recent save & delete the rest. After that you will be set. also if you get stuck on a white screen during the intro, pressing enter usually lets you progress, also i usually exit the game via QQQ console command or via task manager.
My load order is pretty much as presented in this list, if anyone has tips on any adjustments i should make then i would love to hear them. the train tunnel to nuka world has a prp issue but i didnt think it was that big a deal since its a 1 and done for me in that area.
if you have serious problems and can't figure out why, the method of troubleshooting i use is this:
Turn everything off but the mod you are having trouble with, leave it active.
go down the list turning 5-10 mods on at a time until the problem present's itself.
then you can start to troubleshoot with the mod or mods that are conflicting.
sometimes errors can occur when downloading large mods leading to you not knowing why the mod isnt working. this happened to me with gritty interiors and a couple others because of my limited internet speed, i use IDM.
