Preface

Remember the flies as part of ambient noises in FO3 and FONV? Im missing these and after some digging through the game files i found what is missing, called GnatSwarm01.NIF, a simple animation which casts after time on dead bodies till they despawn in vanilla FO4 but thats it! Why not add it as some kind of decoration to certain structure aswell such as the Meat Bags, i thought?

Overview

This mod adds flies to meat related objects, such as;

- Disciple Totem
- Dismembered Bodies and Heads
- Raider Pikes
- Super Mutant Cart, Meat Bag, Trunk, Totem

Objects which are quest related will first spawn the fly swarm when activated, enabled. Such as the blood tracking main quest when searching Kelloggs secret base or the blood decals on ground next to the DC surgery cellar or the Disciples Totems in Nuka-World.

All other fly swarms are fixed and persist in worldspace. Certain mods which disable the super mutant meat bags may require a patch, but since there is many more blood decals in such areas around probably not needed at all. Since the sound file for the fly swarm has a very small radius to play. Same goes for the visuals these are barrels noticable if not close enough to the object.

More is planned ...

Installation

This mod can be in-/unstalled anytime and does not require a new game to work.

The plugin is ESM-flagged and should not be flagged ESL due to object count.

This mod does not affect (Pre-)Combined meshes or Pre Vis data.

Compatibility

This mod works with both, the Old- and Next-Gen update. For third party mods ask the author of the mod of interest.

Outro

Im trying to add the fly swarm to the NIF itself, this way we have the highest mod compatibility available. Unfortunately, im not so experienced, and the major problem besides might be more that the fly swarm is scripted, so its impossible to be added to statics. I will find a way for sure since its a powerful ambient tool.
