let there be light, but not just glow maps. and keep the cubemaps. Added engine lights to both world models and player models of plasma guns to make them glow realistically. similar to how they appear in magazine covers. even the dropped plasma cells glow. for the added visual flare. the models now have glow maps added on to their standard meshes as separate mesh files so now the standard receiver parts and cells retain their cubemap materials. giving the best of both worlds.
