Very simple gameplay setting tweak that reduces the maximum amount of words in the hacking minigame from 20 to 10, and lowers the minimum word count from 6 to 5. Nothing on Nexus did quite what I wanted so I whipped this up for myself and decided to share in case anyone has the same taste.
The number of words displayed when hacking a terminal is based on your character's modifiable Intelligence stat.
Intelligence 1: 10 Words Intelligence 2: 9 Words Intelligence 3: 9 Words Intelligence 4: 8 Words Intelligence 5: 8 Words Intelligence 6: 7 Words Intelligence 7: 7 Words Intelligence 8: 6 Words Intelligence 9: 6 Words Intelligence 10: 5 Words
Not that it matters because it's a decade old single-player game, but the basic reasoning here is that if the player is willing to dig through the symbols to find the duds, they've effectively spent enough time to have "earned" the right to win the minigame. If you've invested into Intelligence then your character is able to just brute force locks for you. If you dumped Intelligence then you either get lucky in real life and guess correctly, or you spend the time to play the minigame properly.
