Mod Name: Reinforced Pip-Boy Skin Version: 0.8 Author: Myrystyr Original Author: Myrstyr Date: 9th October 2024 Categories: Pip-Boy Requirements: a working version of Fallout 4
Like many of you, I enjoy using mods that allow us to change the appearance of the Pip-Boy. Some mods go a step further, adding bonuses or abilities to some Pip-Boy skins. This is my version of that idea.
The Reinforced Pip-Boy Skin does exactly what it sounds like. Your wearable portable computer provides some measure of personal protection, allowing you to block melee attacks and absorb or deflect ballistic attacks. In game terms, this is an Armour Rating of 25. The reinforced casing is otherwise identical to your standard Pip-Boy.
Crafting the reinforced skin requires some material components, which should be relatively easy to gather, as well as some proficiency with the armour workbench (in game terms, level 1 in the Armourer perk).
This mod contains the following file:
ReinforcedPipBoySkin.esl
Playtest Report: The records in the esl were copied out of a personal compilation mod, which includes a number of vaultsuits and pip-boy skins from various other modders. This mod has been used for hundreds of hours of play, and the reinforced skin was useful for role-playing an I Don't Want To Get Hurt So I'll Max Out My Defence character.
Compatibility: Works with both the next-gen update and the previous version of Fallout 4. It even works with the latest version of the Script Extender.
This mod was created using the latest version of Edit, as available from NexusMods, and playtested with the Game Of The Year edition of Fallout 4. All official DLCs are installed (along with a mod to block the next-gen/creation club stuff from auto-starting), although they are not required for use of this mod. The only utility installed and used is Simple Plugin Manager. While I have recently installed Fallout 4 Script Extender it is not required for this mod.
These mods are my way of sharing some of the fun I have playing Fallout 4. If you like the mods I make, please consider endorsing them so that others can know they are appreciated; and, feel free to recommend them to others.
