Q: Does this have any FPS hit? A: Nope! All it does is darken the cell fog colors that are already there, it doesn't add or change anything else.
Q: Does this work with ELFX? A: ELFX is a complete lighting overhaul, and modifies the same data this mod does, so there will be conflicts. You should use ELFX on its own.
Q: Some locations have disappearing walls/floors/etc. What do I do? A: This means another mod in your load order is conflicting. If another mod changes precombine data or layout of the cell, a patch needs to be made. A simple bashed-patch style is all that is needed (conflicting mod's changes with Interior Enhanced lighting data joined into a patch plugin.)
This will conflict with mods like PRP. If you load it before PRP you won't get the changes from this mod and if you load it after PRP you lose its optimizations. As the author stated a patch is possible tho to get both.
Must have mod for me, only trouble I had so far was at RobCo Sales & Service Center, during Automatron DLC. Got Invisible walls and missing textures. I followed all instalation steps and load order, this mod was causing the issue.
Not a deal breaker by any means, works perfectly fine with everything else! Endorsed, thank you!
Make sure another mod isn't altering the cell. Any time anything is touched, the cell header data is carried into a plugin so conflicts come up easily.
By any chance do you have the mod "scrap everything" installed? That mod conflicts with this one and can cause the invisible walls and textures. If you do have it installed there's a patch for it: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47376
Howdy! I've been using PhyLight for over a year and it makes a huge difference, but interiors still are slighty too bright for West Tek Tactical Optics. Would your mod clash with PhyLight?
Technically yes because unfortunately editing anything in a cell carries over the entire cell header record. But what you can do is just load this after any mod that makes changes to cells.
weirdly enough this mod conflicts with Femshepping's Diamond City Edit. a few interriors in DC are glitched/items overlap. no idea why. wanted to leave a comment in case anyone knew of a reason/fix as im very inexperienced in modding and id hate to get rid of either if i can help it!
Make sure that mod wins over this one (Diamond City Edit loads after this one in your load order.)
You may also want to check without this mod. Mods that make edits to interiors but don't rebuild previs/precomb or "previsibines" can have flickering issues.
The game looks much better with this mod and when used with Fr4nsson's light tweak mod altogether. However, I am getting massive fps drop when using the two mods together in some areas like inside Coverga Assembly Plant, from 130fps to around 80. Ofc this is totally playable and I am aware on how this area is notorious for being unoptimized in the first place. I'm just curious why this happens when both mods doesn't really seem to "increase" lighting or shadows or anything. Even the author of the mod said this isn't supposed to have any FPS hit.
Also another thing I noticed, using this mod makes the candles actually have flames which is nice. But I temporarily turned off this one for now until I find answers. Any ideas of what's happening would be appreciated.
Hi! This mod doesn't add candles to flames. The only mod that does that is Enhanced Lights and Effects which is a full lighting overhaul and causes FPS drops in some interiors due to all the extra light and shadow. So it sounds like you're mixing up the two mods.
If you're using ELFX you don't need this mod or Fr4nsson's light tweaks, they all conflict.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I don't have ELFX installed but I still saw a functioning candles for some reason. The only lighting mod I'm using are: Spotlight Shadows Fr4nsson's lightning tweaks FPSL - NSH FPSL - Optimized EFX Full Interiors Enhanced 2.0, and lastly Pip-boy Flashlight.
After disabling Interiors Enhanced, my load order (from top to bottom on the right side of MO2) for plugins are: FPSL.esp Spotlight shadows.esp Fr4nsson'sLightTweaks.esp Pip-boy Flashlight.esp
I don't remember what my load order when I was using Interiors Enhanced. And I'll give ELFX another shot, last time I used it (was already around a year ago) gave me FPS problems. I'm new in this load order thing so it might be simply because of that.
Interesting, I was just making an assumption there about ELFX. It's possible one of the other mods you're using is adding candle flames.
Spotlight Shadows can also be an FPS culprit sometimes.
Overall it sounds like this could be a load order thing. If you're running mods that rebuild precombined meshes like PRP, they will change cell data, so mods like this one that alter cell data can override changes and cause the precombined mesh system to disable, which causes big FPS drops.
If you drop your whole load order I can eyeball it and see if anything sticks out, though I haven't kept up on all the latest and greatest stuff out there.
If you do use ELFX I highly recommend the PRP ELFX patch. It resolves the issues that cause ELFX to drop FPS mostly. If you're unfamiliar with PRP it rebuilds the precombines in Fallout 4 to improve FPS and has patches for lots of big mods. If you're unfamiliar with precombines, it's the system Fallout 4 uses to "merge" objects in a scene together to help with FPS (to oversimplify it.)
Hello again. Yes you are right, it was actually the load order that messed my FPS up. I tried enabling both Interiors Enhanced and Fr4nsson mod at the same time again after using LOOT (plugin sorter) and I didn't get an FPS drop anymore which feels good!
You mentioned earlier about the candles, did you mean the flame is only added using ELFX? And I have both Interiors Enhanced and Fr4nsson's mod at the same time. But just to show what I meant earlier: https://puu.sh/JUke3/81c5e85b6b.mp4 - Here I have "flames" on the candle. https://puu.sh/JUkey/214f457014.mp4 - FPS dropped a lot (using both mods). https://puu.sh/JUkeJ/bcad4be3d1.mp4 - I disabled Interiors Enhanced here (only Fr4nsson's is enabled) and I didn't get FPS drop.
Anyway thanks for pointing that out. I'm finally able to use both mods without the FPS drop I mentioned. And yes I am using PRP. I'll go give ELFX a try now and decide which one I like more. Thank you.
Oh, if you don't mind me asking, is your ELFX and ELFX Previs Patch at the bottom too? Mine is being placed there when using LOOT. And I'm getting fps drop with it. I already disabled FPSL, Interiors Enhanced and Fr4nsson's mod. https://puu.sh/JUkhq/b2884e70c1.jpg
EDIT: Nvm, I got the order right I think. It's working fine now since earlier everything was too bright and barely has shadows. But yeah. ELFX is the best lighting mod I've tried so far except it really tanks performance for me. From 130-140FPS to 70-90 in SOME areas. Of course this is within absolutely-playable range, it's just the amount reduced was kinda surprising to me. Thanks again!
I used this mod the last time back in 2016 and now in 2023, after trying a lot of alternatives, this is still the best. Same goes for Vivid Weather far superior than any later weather mod.
Works great, I don't notice any FPS hit at all. Also it's fairly easy to patch to your other mods, a quick drag & drop to copy/paste the light values in FO4Edit doesn't take long at all. Thanks!
Looks cool, but I can't see s#*! in 90% of interiors because it's way too dark. That might be okay for deserted areas to make you use the flashlight but it makes zero sense to have to do that in areas that have people living there. A milder version of the mod/config file for a lower contrast between bright and dark areas would be nice, as for now this makes the game unplayable for me.

Try putting it further down in your load order.
