About this mod

No more muddy and washed out Radroach Textures. Radroaches were supposed to have transparent wings like other bugs in the game. Now they do! Edited base game Vanilla Textures to give Radroaches a "new" look, properly distinguishing the Vanilla Texture variants. Edited to NIFs and Materials to bring it up to par with creatures like the Bloatfly.

No More Muddy Radroaches - A Radroach "Retexture" + Fixes

WIP - 2k "Retexture", NIF fixes, Material edits, and a Material Swap fix.
Note: This mod may not be for you, but will give Radroaches an updated look with some needed fixes.

Description:
Similar to my Dogmeat "Retexture", I dislike the washed out and muddy approach to how the Radroaches look. This doesn't match Bethesda's quality control they have with other insects. This mod attempts to distinguish the existing Radroach variants, using personally edited Vanilla Textures as well as correcting NIF files, Material files, and applying a Material Swap fixes.

What exactly was wrong with Vanilla Radroaches anyway?
For whatever reason, it looks like Bethesda crapped the bed with Radroaches, and focused heavily on all of their other insect creatures. Radroaches have a very rudimentary approach to how they are set up via their NIF, Materials, and Textures. Whereas something like Bloatflies, are set up in a way more technical approach that gives them a lot of control on how the different variants work.
List of fixes;
- New Material files and swaps have been set up for the wings to now have transparency, and be unique, as they were meant to be, as seen in the unused Vanilla files.
- NIF files have been edited to properly receive the fixed Material files and Material Swaps for transparent wings (Originally intended in Vanilla).
- Addtional NIF created to separate the Glowing Radroach from the base, so that it can make use of FX and Gradients for glow, similar to Bloatflies.

Install:
1. Just do the thing. Preferably with a Mod Manager like Vortex or MO2.
2. Download and install the Main File v04.0

Known Issues:
Transparent objects in Vanilla can often appear really strange depending on the lighting/weather. The Radroaches wings may look slightly different from location to location, and based on your setup. But generally, I've only found they appear darker. Which I think is alright, as actual roach wings are already like this. This has mostly now been fixed, as wings will appear different in various lighting situations, but will never lose their color/lighting/texture like they would before. This is a Vanilla issue in the Material/NIF set up of other transparent objects, that has been corrected by mods like; Gloomy Glass, which I use and recommend. However, I've taken a more specific approach to the Radroaches, and plan to with other creatures.

Changelog:
- v04.0 - New Main File - Includes some new edits in order to bring the radroaches up to par with the way other creatures are set up. (i.e. Bloatfly uses Glowing FX and Gradients, not just 1 Glow Map)

- v03.0 - Initial Release

Future:
- Currently doing a "Quality Control" run through the other insects to look for inconsistencies, and to bring the textures/materials into the same art direction.
- Recreating the NIF files from the ground up, so the Radroaches take advantage of the more technical way that something like a Bloatfly is set up for its Meshes/Materials/Textures. First release of this includes this!
- Never happening, but it would be nice to actually distinguish the Radroach variants more in the mesh and with in game name changes, to again match the way the other insects are set up.
