About this mod

Provides the ability to choose when each of the 7 new Next Gen Update quests will start. By default they will no longer start on exit from Vault 111. You decide when you want each quest to start.
For new games or pre-NG saves.. To start each quest, craft and equip its respective ring from any Chem lab. The rings can be discarded after use.

Tested vs second Next-Gen update (15 May 2024) - no evident issues. 
The NextGen Update of 25 Apr 2024 introduces 7 new quests to the base game, taken from Creation Club. These quests all start on exit from Vault 111. While the quests and content can be enjoyable, there are a number of problems with starting these quests immediately on Vault exit.
  • The quest notification spam is distracting and immersion-breaking.
  • The quests are generally too high level for a low level character to accomplish easily, and are much harder that typical quests at that player level.
  • The quests contain content that is extremely high level, such as end-game or post-end-game power armour and weaponry. This can unbalance the game, and/or create a perverse incentive to beeline for these OP weapons and armour. 
  • Some of the quests have no logical reason why the player character would be aware of them or motivated to do them. 
  • The Enclave content can be brutally dangerous for unwary players. 
  • The Enclave content has a relationship that is tenuous at best with events in the Commonwealth. 
  • In general the quests are not integrated into the base game main quest, and perhaps are best done after completing the main quest. 

Whatever your reasons, this mod will not spam you with quest notifications at Vault exit, and will allow you to individually control the timing of each of the new quests. 

Notes:
  • This mod does NOT remove the content from the game world. It is still possible to stumble into (or metagame into) the Next Gen content. All this mod does is stop that content being advertised to you by quest notifications. 
  • For the All Hallows Eve quest, the quest will not directly start. Instead, equipping the ring enables the Mysterious Signal. Listen to the signal to start the quest. 
  • In most cases it does not make sense to use this mod except with a new game, or loading a [pre-Next Gen save file, since otherwise all of the quests will already have triggered. The exception would be if you have used some other mod to suppress the quest starts (for example my 'disable NG content' series of mods, see below).
