In the first decade of the 20th century, as the U.S. military investigated the new self-loading pistol concept for general use, one of the main competitors to the Colt-Browning pistol designs (which would eventually become the M1911) was the Savage model 1907. Unlike the Browning design, the Savage used a rotating barrel as its "locking" mechanism, although the effectiveness of the lockup is debatable. It was also noteworthy for having a very early double-stack magazine design. Although the Colt design would eventually win out, being a generally better design, the Savage would be the basis for a fairly successful pocket pistol in .32 and .380 ACP.

My interpretation of this pistol is as a slightly improved version of the original .45 ACP model. It is balanced with the intention of being a bit of a side-grade to the vanilla 10mm, with lower damage and no automatic receivers, but having a better semi-auto firing rate.
