How to reverse the downgrade / Update to latest version As we all know, F4SE has been updated and now we are just waiting for the mods to be too! This means that we no longer will need to downgrade as soon as our beloved mods are up to speed.
To reverting back to latest version of Fallout 4 all you need to do is to verify integrity of your files on Steam
Open your Game Library on Steam.
Right-click on your game.
Select Properties from the menu.
In the Properties menu, select 'Local Files' from the left-hand panel.
On the Local Files page, select 'Verify integrity of game files'
Steam will then verify your files.
What are the two downgrading options and which one should I use? Depending on whether or not you want to use the latest Creation Club files or just want to avoid logging in using steam. You may choose between either:
1. Downgrade by patching files - I Want to use latest CC files! This method does not require you to login using steam When downgrading by patching files, the Fallout4.exe, Fallout4Launcher.exe and steam_api64.dll will be downgraded. This works for current version 1.10.980 and older version 1.9.4 and it may work for the upcoming update on monday 2024-05-13, but an update will be made in case it does not.
You can patch using files by running the bat file "Downgrade by patching files.bat" or if you want to have the plugins above installed automatically you can run "Downgrade by patching files and install plugins.bat" although I would avoid using it if you use MO2.
2. Downgrade by downloading depots - I want a clean downgrade with all files reverted to previous version! Downloading all depots will require you to login to steam as the files are directly downloaded from their servers and requires a logged in user to do so.
It replaces all your fallout 4 data files including but not limited to the Fallout4.exe, Fallout4Launcher.exe and steam_api64.dll. And therefor this method should work even on any future update of the game You can do this by running "Downgrade by downloading depots.bat"
When Downgrading by downloading depots, do I also need to downgrade the Creation Kit? You don't need to downgrade Creation Kit but its only if you want to make sure you have the same version of Creation Kit that properly worked with the older version (v1.10.630.0) of Fallout 4.
the Italian language doesn't work, the characters don't speak and the game continues to come out entirely in English (I used the downgrade) f*#@ but answer I've been playing without a voice for months
I encountered an issue when launching the program to start the game. Upon execution, a crash window appears consistently. Additionally, When i go to interact with the window, the program continues to load. However, upon loading, the displayed text is either in box symbols or Japanese characters, which is not the desired language, English is . I am perplexed as to why the program defaults to Japanese without offering an option for language selection. Your assistance in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated.
i tried this safe mode non safe mode no anti virus already have exeptions i had it working like a week ago but had to reset my computer now the fallout downloader from github leaves it at the most current this mod on this page leaves Japanese or no no english and boxes instead of letters
also when running this mod a few times it said it was downgraded without doing anything right after redownloaing the game
I installed the downgrader, and it actually worked PERFECTLY.
But there is one strange thing. The content from the update (I.e, the Echoes of the Past quest and the creation club content) are still in game, but remain perfectly compatible with the mods I have installed. Here is the list of mods I have installed, just so you all know:

yeah game was working perfectly fine for like 4 weeks until the new next gen 1.10.984 update came out, had a headache for 3 days trying to figure out what was causing crashing on startup even without any mods enabled, buffout was being useless and i was about to give up but than i found a thread that said to remove all CC files from Fallout 4 data folder because Custom Content from Fallout 4 mod store was causing these crashes because the update even broke their own store, so now my game is working but most mods that rely on sfw like UI and interface mods as well as some Workshop framework settings are completely broken still and even downgrader isn't fixing it (

No matter what I do I can't get the CK to open via MO2. It gives me error 65432 regardless of whether I overwrite the steam App ID or not, but if launched directly from the exe then it runs fine except for the texture not found error I've seen mentioned around trying to troubleshoot this.
Thank you VERY much! I followed the manual downgrade instructions you listed at the bottom of you description page, then deleted all the "cc" (creation club) files, and the game works perfectly. I forgot to disable my internet the last time I started up Fallout and Steam just downloaded the update lol. You saved all of my mods.
I had a bit of trouble figuring this out, so I want to share what worked for me. I have Win 10 and a bit of an older version, on a bit of legacy screen that can only go to 60hz anyway and resolution is 1360 x 768 and I play on windowed mode most the time. And of course the Bethesda update screwed up the game entirely by blacking the whole friggin game out no matter cell I was in. So I downloaded this... but couldn't get it to work. It took me ALL DAMN DAY to figure out that:
1) the F4SE downgrade link that we need to run it HAS to be downloaded from the F4SE silverlock web page version 6.23 (!!!). (Do NOT install it from here on Nexus because I tried all the "old" f4se uploads but they are all somehow the new beta one that require the new Bethesda update)
AND
2) I had to re-install the Backported Archive2 Support AFTER the downgrade
AND
3) re-install the Address Library for F4SE Plugins, ALSO AFTER the downgrade.
Just gotta say, its funny there are three different downgrade mods in the mods of the month alone. Just goes to show how poorly Bethesda thought this update out.
Truth. I guess it wasn't enough for the show to make people want to play again. I know there are countless people like me who use the game to unwind when I'm stressed, creating settlements is seriously soothing for some reason. To have their new magnificent update just botch so many people's outlet for stress really shows how they're more focused on money nowadays instead of a good story.
