This was supposed to be a small, easy practice project, and then texturing took 3 weeks.
BACKGROUND
Before the M1911, there was the M1900 series. Based on John Browning's first locked-breech self-loading (or "automatic") pistol design, and chambered in the .38 Automatic cartridge, the M1900 series was Colt's first foray into the world of self-loading semi-automatic pistols, with both commercial and military models sold. Although it had a number of deficiencies compared to later iterations of the design, it still saw a small degree of success before it was ultimately eclipsed by the final M1911 design.
