This mod was created to supplement the Furry Races Overhaul mod by the very handsome Ramirez223, although some simpler alternatives are available; most mods of this type only cover human and synth characters, leaving the wrinkly boys and girls just strutting around like we aren't going to notice. No more - they now join the Vulpines and Lupines as the beautiful and regal Proto-Argonians, leaving only the wasteland's children unaffected by the spreading transformation...


"But Miss Seth, what about the human characters? Your mod only changes ghouls!"

I did say that, didn't I. I'm probably not going to be convinced to make a total NPC replacer for Argonians - although if someone else would like to, feel free to message me and you could probably merge this mod in.

For now, let's take a look at some recommended options...

  • Vulpine Race NPC Replacer
    This is probably the most stable option you're going to get, and requires the fewest additional mod installations. You'll get a mix of mostly foxes along with some gravelly-voiced lizards this way.
  • Lupine NPC Replacer
    Similar to the previous Vulpines, but for wolves! Albeit, slightly less stable but it isn't too bad.
  • Furry Races Overhaul
    My personal favorite, but much more complicated to set up. You get foxes, wolves, robot-jackals, and even some sharks if you go into Far Harbor; and now some lizards with the addition of this mod.



"Jeepers, Veeper! What's the right load order for all this stuff!?"

Here is the approximate load order I recommend:

ESMs:
  • Unofficial Patch Mod(s)
  • Vulpine/Lupine/Amelia/Selachii Race(s) (according to the human NPC replacer you like best)
  • Proto-Argonian Race
  • Whatever other mods you enjoy using


ESPs:
  • CBBE (Required) and BodyTalk (optional)
  • Whatever other mods you enjoy using
  • Vulpine/Lupine/Furry Races NPC Replacer
  • Ghouls Are Lizards NPC Replacer
  • Mods that "need to load last" (Such as Start Me Up)



"That's amazing! I'm sure there's no issues at all with this mod, right?"

.... Well.

I'm not perfect, so it's possible there's a ghoul I overlooked; if you spot one, let me know the details and try to hand me a Form ID if you can. There's at least one ghoul I definitely passed over. His name is Billy, and he is the only vanilla member of GhoulChildRace. I don't have the technical knowledge to hack together a ProtoArgonianChildRace, so he remains a wrinkly faced little freak for now. Obviously, this mod will also not cover ghouls added by outside mods such as Sim Settlements 2; please verify that your wrinkly faced freaks are not from a mod before showing it to me.

A minor issue worth bearing in mind: In vanilla, GhoulRace characters are immune to/get healed by radiation. Proto-Argonians do not. I'm not altogether positive how to approach the issue right now - for now I've taken an Occam's Razor approach and left them as-is. Your feedback on this point would be appreciated; for now, I apologize if I accidentally nerfed your Ghoul Slayer's Gamma Gun.

Final thing on my to-do list - I'd like to create a leveled list to increase the variety of settler faces in a certain way, but for the moment I wanted to get the mod out there and see if anyone could find other glaring issues. If nothing huge comes up it'll probably be the next thing I work on.
