You can know recruit back from the dead:

You can find them in Super Duper Mart.
Creation Club

You find them where you can will find during the quest, but Mercer is located in the Quincy in the Mayor House.
Optional

You can find him in the Castle Tunnels.
THIS IS NOT A REPLACEMENT. THEY COEXIST WITH THE DEAD BODIES.
Emma and John don't have voice lines, maybe I will add them in the future.
The John that you see in the game is just a corpse that is used everywhere and there is an npc for John with the same face as in the pictures above, so I used that one + that corpse is the same as Nunez.
When I made this mod I found out that the player could choose, in War Paint, the Minuteman to fight Quincy or to choose the Gunners and to defeat Captain Mercer, to take the gunner flag from the dead gunner commander and put the flag and the quest will be completed. I think it couldn't be in the game because you can't join the Gunners. Too bad.
