About this mod

Don't have room for a bulky radio tower? Want to make your own radio room for your settlement summoning operation? Just like amateur radio equipment? This might be for you!

I make a lot of tech-y settlements, I didn't always want there to be a weird, dubiously functional satellite dish (shoutout to Ethreon's Workshop Request Time for some radio tower options) hanging around, or have to resort to a simple switchbox mesh when building interior settlements. So I embraced my childhood of building crystal radios and decided to make one that's a good old ham radio.

I found and was inspired by Ham Radio Settlement Beacon, but I understand the author was working towards making it a larger mod and there were a couple superfluous bits and records. It also didn't qualify for auto-ESLification (and I wanted more colors and freedom for future ideas of my own) so I figured by the time I could tweak it I could have easily just made a new one, so I did and decided to share it with you.

Cheaper to build for some components but requires two Microfusion Cells to power. Generates 1 unit of power which it immediately consumes, making you generator free!

Thanks to damanding/crayonkit for informing me that the material swaps I'd seen in another mod were actually secretly in the Contraptions Workshop so I didn't go asking other authors for permission.

-=-=-Known Issue / Why the loose mesh is there-=-=-
Radio Recruitment towers are kind of weird and there was no way I could find to make one that didn't start in the "On" position. Because the radio is spawned in already "Off" this means that if you flip the knob on the radio, causing the lights to turn on and everything, the *Broadcast* is actually turned *off.* I'm exploring how to flip that over - if anyone knows you'd be my hero for telling me! Otherwise, it's mainly an aesthetic problem. Anyway that's why there's a duplicate but renamed mesh of the HamRadio.nif, so I can update it later without ruining any already placed ones.

Pick one of the files and either drag the contents to your Fallout 4\Data folder or use the mod manager of your choice.

B85 Ham Radio Recruitment
: Adds the trusty orange (or whatever reskin you may have) ham radio to the Power->Misc. menu. Just an ESL flagged ESP and one loose mesh.

B85 Ham Radio Recruitment - CW: Requires the Contraptions Workshop to work properly and expands your choices to nine colors that were created for the Contraptions Workshop DLC but never actually used. It's a soft-but-firm requirement, I didn't actually include any Contraptions Workshop items, meshes, records, or textures but the eight additional options are mapped to material files you won't have without it.
