About this mod

A collection of rollback patches to overwrite specific changes made by FATE fixes and tweaks, such as re-written terminal entries, broken duffle bag loot, and whatever they did to poor Maxson

The popular mod Fixes And Technical Enhancements (FATE Patch) brings many quality of life improvements, both original work by its author, TheSoundOfSnow, and added in from other mods whose authors were kind enough to allow it. Overall it is an excellent mod that I would recommend anyone at least consider.

Unfortunately, FATE also has many issues both in game and meta - anything from scope creep and arbitrary changes, to broken features and bugs. The documentation is also (as of the time of writing this) out of date which makes even knowing all of what it does, difficult.

This mod aims to fix at least a few of these issues, until addressed by TheSoundOfSnow in the original mod. It mostly (currently only) does this by reverting changes back to either the vanilla, or UFO4P versions where applicable.

As such, using cleaning software such as xEditQuickClean will simply break the functionality of these patches as they are, by design, dirty.

All changes are available as individual downloads under "miscellaneous" as well as the primary files. The exception is anything listed under "optional" as those are not included in the primary files either because they're new and will be rolled in later, or because they are highly subjective (none currently, will likely move the settlements attack message edits remover out of the main file and to optional next main-file rebuild ).

Current files

FATE Rollback - Fixes

FATE Settlements Attack Message Edits Remover
 - Undoes the edits to settlement attack messages, both the message itself and the duration the message is on screen.

FATE Misc Message Edits Remover - removes the edits to various miscellaneous messages, such as when legendary creatures mutate or when you make an observation of the environment

FATE Non-Fighting Shaun - Resets child-Shaun to his vanilla aggression of unaggressive and vanilla confidence of cowardly. Otherwise, carries forward the changes made by FATE.

FATE Terminal Entry Edits Remover - Removes all terminal entry edits. Some are very minor, like correcting a missed space or such. Others change which terminals have what entries, change the wording of entries, or completely rewrite them from the ground up - often removing any unique personality they had such as using shorthand or poor grammar. (For the sake of thoroughness, this undoes all terminal edits, not just the entries themselves.) May do a later pass to find and leave in pure fixes such as for the labeling in Vault 111 of who is in which pod.

FATE Jetpack AP Restored - not included in FATE Rollback - Fixes v1.0, Reverts Power Armor jetpacks back to using your Action Points rather than fusion cores for flight.

FATE Rollback - Tweaks

FATE Duffle Bag Fix - fixes issue where almost all duffle bags are empty.

FATE Vanilla Maxson - undoes the cosmetic change to Elder Maxson (if there are more NPCs with random appearance changes, post them and I'll do them to)

FATE Broken Quest Edits Removernot included in FATE Rollback - Tweaks v1.0, Removes broken edits to quests, that render those quests non-functional. Current list of quests included: Atom Cats (Misc), Here There be Monsters
Find another quest broken* by FATE? Let me know in the Posts tab!
*Not all broken quests are due to edits to the quests themselves. For example, Brain Dead is broken due to a bug in the changes FATE makes to robobrains, which has its own separate fix

FATE Robobrain Dialog Fix - not included in FATE Rollback - Tweaks v1.0, Removes a record change in the DLC01 and DLC03 robobrain races that inadvertently makes it impossible to speak to them, breaking both the Brain Dead quest and some parts of the Automatron DLC. (Credit to Infomaniac50 for finding the exact record change that needed undone. Saved me from going down a both very long - and wrong - rabbit hole)
