Helper Blocks that snap to walls, each other, and the ends of the counter-top style vendor booths. Enables precision placement of the Vendor Sales Counters.
Does what it says. I made this out of frustration when I was trying to neatly align my sales booths. It works marvelously.
For FO4. Even though the mod itself is stand-alone and can be installed regardless of DLCs, the blocks snap to Concrete walls which are part of DLC02 so they won't be much use without the concrete walls.
You will find them in the Workshop Furniture --> Miscellaneous category.
EDIT:
Originally I had intentionally omitted textures on the models to achieve that neon color effect to make it obvious they were not permanent.
Due to some possible issues on some rigs, I changed them to have a wood texture. And, TBH, you can leave them in the game if you want. They have full collision and wood impact physics now.
IMPORTANT Description Update:
These work by snapping to preexisting connection points, P-CWall01-Dif, that are on the Concrete walls from DLC02. When I published this mod I had not realized these snap points do not exist on Shack Walls. My apologies. I am updating this description to reflect this information.
Numbers are important:
Vanilla walls and floors are typically 256.
Doors 96, the counters are ~256.
The blocks will snap to the walls in increments of 32.
My spacer block is 32x64, and has snap points on all 4 sides.
You can snap the 32x64 blocks end-to-end or in a T shape and get useful increments for placing your counters in a room.
The Thin Block is 0 thick and only snaps one way.
The 'Thin Block':
The idea was to be able to use this like tape and stick a counter to the wall. Did not work exactly as I wanted. Due to collision conflicts, the thinnest snap-distance I could use that would reliably work was 5. But it does work; slap one on a wall and your counter will snap right to it. But it will have a gap of 5 between the counter and the wall. Best I could do... Well best I could do without modifying Vanilla files and for this mod that isn't something I want to do.
Tip: It can be tricky to target this 0 thick item for removal after placing your counter. Your highlight will probably jump between the wall and the counter. I've learned that aiming just below the top of the spacer block gets the best results.
Q: If they only snap to the sides, why are the blocks different heights?
A: The regular block is lower than the counter so it does not obstruct your view when you are trying to place the counter. The thin 'block' has 0 thickness, so it is taller than the counter so you can easily grab it from the wall when you are done.
Q: Why make it cost 1 wood?
A: Bethesda game logic. If I set the build requirements to 'nothing', then you can't build it because you don't have 'nothing' in your inventory. And yes, I'm being serious. It would show up in your Workshop list, but you could not build it. I got a great laugh first time I realized that one.
Q: Why make me scroll through all the Misc Furniture entries. Why not just make a new category?
A: Bethesda programming logic. Simplified version is the only way I could do that is to edit a Vanilla file to insert my menu into it. I've done that for all my other mods, but there will invariably be a mod conflict. Bethesda does not take mod A and add it to the menu and then take mod B and incrementally add it... it simply takes whoever was last on the list (Load Order).
I wanted this mod as simple as possible so I passively put it in an existing category. And Misc Furniture seemed the best.
(The Stores category would require the aforementioned Vanilla edits.)
Q: What are are using to make the Concrete structures in your pictures?
A: My own mod, Retsam's Construction Pack.
Uninstalling:
This mod makes things. If you have items from this mod in your game and remove the mod, yep it'll break stuff. Considering the nature of this mod, you should just scrap them when you are done. No need to keep them. They only cost 1 wood. But just in case...
To Remove:
Delete all of the crafted items, then remove the mod and you should be fine. It is only a couple of models added. No scripts or deep level changes.
ESP vs ESL
I've always made ESP mods. This is a lightweight mod to be sure, but at this time I've not made an ESL version.
I use FO4Edit and Elric to clean my mods to give you the best quality mod I can.
My other Mods:
Retsam's Construction Pack
More than 700 Workshop Construction items related to Settlement Structures. Most items are unique never-seen-before pieces that enable
some very creative settlement buildings.
Guard Post Markers:
Adds Guard Post markers to some floor decorations, and a couple of Guard Post structures where the Guards will idle with weapons displayed.
Retsam's Better Planters
You get 9 plant varieties in 4 different planter styles (material). They are appropriately sized and given snap-points that enable them to snap to floors and each other. 6 planters will perfectly cover one full floor square. You also get 1 of each frame style with Soil only.
