Going Deathclaw hunting? Is there a Fog Crawler that too tough to take down? Are there Behemoths and Super Mutants terrorizing a settlement? If you answered yes to any of these questions then I have a solution for you. Behold the Double Barrel Elephant Rifle!

When Europeans started to explore inland in the Africa's in the early 19 Century they quickly encountered a problem which was the wildlife itself. Africa has some of the most dangerous land animals on the planet and it their weapons were ineffective in dealing with the wildlife on the continent. To protect themselves from falling prey to the animals on the continent they invented Bore Rifles. Bore Rifles were effective in dealing with the new threats that they faced but the problem with Bore Rifles was that they are very heavy and cumbersome to carry for long periods of time so in response to this the express rifle was created. With half the weight of the Bore Rifles and just as much muzzle energy or more needed to take down the dangerous wildlife in Africa explorers finally had a proper solution to hunting and protecting themselves while in Africa.

The Double Barrel Elephant Rifle or sometimes known as the "Elephant Gun" was powerful enough to take down a elephant hence the name. The rifle has 2 barrels for if a fast follow up shot is needed should the first shot fail to drop the animal that the hunter is hunting or if multiple animals decide to attack. So what calibers do you get with this mod? Way too many but here are some of the chamberings

500 Nitro Express:

Invented sometime in the 1890's this caliber was based off and is in improvement on the 500 Black Powder Express which was invented in the 1860's. Producing 5860 ft-lbf of muzzle energy this caliber was made to deal with the biggest of the Big Five which is the Elephant, Cape Buffalo, and Rhinos. The penetration of this caliber is also acceptable for the big cats as well making the 500 Nitro Express the benchmark for acceptable calibers for African hunting.

600 Nitro Express:

Invented in the early 1900's this bullet finally gave hunters what they was missing from the Bore Rifles. The 600 Nitro Express is similar to the 4 Bore in that the hunter can shoot through brush and even put a stop to a charging elephant.

700 Nitro Express:

Sometime in 1985 a man by the name of William Feldstein paid Holland & Holland a visit requesting that they make him a double barrel rifle in 600 Nitro Express. They told him no as they stopped production of 600 Nitro Express in 1975 so Feldstein took it on himself to build a 600 Nitro Express but better. The end result was the 700 Nitro Express.  The 500NE, 600NE, and 700NE are still in production to this day.

Triggers:
You can switch if you want to fire each barrel one at a time or both at the same time.

Sights:
Iron sights, reflex sight, acog scope, or a 6x scope

Receivers:
Your typical receiver mods. There is now a special receiver that adds 50% more sneak damage

This weapon has a legendary effect in that it deals more damage to targets depending on the caliber that you choose.

The effect is known as Dangerous Wild Life and it works silently behind the scenes. What caliber you choose will deal critical (1.5x) damage to certain enemies. Why did I set it up this way? To make things more realistic as certain calibers are great for taking out big game but do a poor job in other areas. Why so many calibers? To reflect both current times and some chamberings of old as you can buy such a rifle today with all sorts of calibers. Another thing is that many of these calibers will see use in other weapon mods in my Big Game Firearm series.

So what does this have to do with Fallout 4? Is this lore friendly? To answer the first question with Deathclaws, Behemoths, and other large mutated creatures running around the wasteland I believe that calibers like this would of made a huge resurgence for dealing with threats such as these. Is it lore friendly? It can be. You already have the Chinese Assault Rifle (AK-47) and 50BMG rifles in the wasteland. You even have the lever rifle in Far Harbor in 45-70 so why not have more calibers made for dealing with large dangerous animals.

So how do I get this rifle?

You can get it as a legendary drop or find it on vendors that specializes on weapons at level 25. The weapon is very expensive due to how overpowered it is so you better have a lot of caps ready. There are 3 Legendary's in the world and one free one hiddin in the world. Where are they

Cricket

One inside a military base

One in a very rich man house

Non legendary- Hiddin in a tent in Far Harbor

How do I get more ammo?

You can buy more ammo from the ammo store at the Chem Station. Just like the weapon the ammo is quite expensive as well. Vendors sell ammo too but its rare that they do and when they do its at a discount so be on the lookout!

IMPORTANT-PLEASE READ

To counter the recoil issue but to make the weapon as realistic as possible I introduced counter weight mods. One bad thing about recoil is that in this game there is such a thing as negative recoil so if you equip the Extreme counter weight but chamber the rifle in any of the calibers not recommended for that mod then you will experience negative recoil (the gun pulls down instead of up when firing) so now you have to use the right counter weight for the right caliber or you will have this issue. If anyone knows how to better do this or fix this issue Im all ears

This is my very first mod so thanks for clicking on this page and/ or downloading this mod.
