TL:DR

Make the following weapons work with the “Mister Sandman” perk without any silencer mod installed on them:

• Laser Gun
• Laser Musket
• Gatling Laser
• Institute Laser Gun
• Plasma Gun
• Alien Blaster
• Gamma Gun
• Cryolator
• Gauss Riffle
  

Description

This mod modify all energy weapons so that they are silenced by default.
This is done by adding the keyword “HasSilencer” to the weapon.


Why?

Laser guns emit a laser or particles beam. Emitting such a thing won't produce any sound.
Gauss riffles launch high velocity slugs with magnetic propulsion. So putting a suppressor on it won't make any sense as the gun don't make any noise, and you don't want the ammunition to be slower than sound.
Plasma guns are Gauss Riffles launching plasma in place on slugs.
As for the ammunition, they could make a small slap or crack sound, but they won't give away the sniper position like that.

In all of these cases, the gun won't make that much of a noise, so why don't they get the “Mister Sandman” perk bonus?
This mod is here to fix that if you also think that these advanced weapons shouldn't lose to the old guns, and should be usable in a stealth game-play.


Tasks list

[x] Make energy weapons work with the “Mister Sandman” perk (since 0.1.0)
[x] Add a mod version compatible with “Weapon Balance Overhaul” mod (since 0.2.0)
[  ] Remove the “Suppressor” mod from the Gauss Riffle
[  ] Smooth the sound generated by these weapons
[  ] Add a mod version which add a “Suppressor” for all these weapons but the Gauss riffle (as there is already one).


Manual process

installation

Put the “Silenced Energy Weapons.esp” file in your “Data” folder or the “Silenced Energy Weapons - WBO.esp” if you are using “Weapon Balance Overhaul” mod.

unintallation

Remove the “Silenced Energy Weapons.esp” or “Silenced Energy Weapons - WBO.esp” file from your “Data” folder.


FOMOD

Use your favorite mod manager to install or uninstall this mod.

Warning

To be on the safe side, before installing this mod, please remove the Suppressor on your Gauss Riffle and don't add it again.
