Dally gun
In the book "Tactics of Mistake" by Gordon R. Dickson one of the standard military weapons was a rifle called a Dally gun. So named because it was developed by a man named Dally. The soldiers call it a "Dial-a-gun". Now, Fallout 4 has its own version of the Dally gun.
When you find the gun it will be just a pile of parts. It is located in the little control booth at the exit to vault 111. When you pick it up it will assemble itself into a 6 barreled weapon. Also be sure to grab the Dally Token also. Equip the Dally gun it starts out firing standard 10mm ammo although it does about 10% more damage and is a bit more accurate due to the rifle form factor. Equip the Dally gun then under misc in your inventory select the Dally token. Close your pipboy and choose what ammo you want it to use. The choices are:
10mm
.45cal
44Mag
5mm minigun ammo
5.56mm
.308cal
It will only let you select an ammo type you have in inventory. The barrels will rotate to the one for that ammo. (Sorry, no animation, just imagination). The Dally gun has a 4x Scope equipped. There are no mods, it is what it is. But the possibilities, you only have to carry one weapon to use most of the ammo you find. Only found .45cal rounds in the last two fights? No problem set the Dally gun to .45cal and you're good..45cal
