Permissions and credits
Tired of walking around overburdened? Too hardcore to abandon all weight limits? Refuse to leave that desk fan behind?

My brother in rags, Atom has an answer for you!

Salvage Picklist
Geofenced Infinite Carry

Why carry around a desk fan? Who does that? Stop dragging every fire extinguisher back to base and let your settlers do the work.

Mod Overview

This mod allows you to craft Salvage Picklists at cooking and chem stations, using a Pencil and a Folder. When you use a Picklist, it will activate a 10,000 lb weight buff while you stay within the same location. When inside a building (eg, Corvega Factory), the weight buff will remain active until you leave. When outside, the buff will be active while you stay near the spot where you activated the Picklist. You'll see notifications every few seconds showing how close you are to the edge of the tether. For locations with multiple buildings in a small area (eg, Nahant Oceanological Society), there are settings in the mod that allow you to go back and forth between indoor and outdoor without ending the effect. The tether radius covers an area roughly the size of Sanctuary or the main houses at West Everett Estates. You cannot fast travel while the effect is active.

Picklists have a caps cost to activate, which you can adjust (including 0 caps) in the settings. This is meant to make salvaging more of a strategic choice instead of a spam button.

This mod is meant to supplement kinggath's excellent Salvage Beacons mod. I like to play with Survival weight limits, but I get tired of trudging overburdened through each Raider hole I clear out. Salvage Beacons makes it worse, because it gives me an excuse to grab EVERY ashtray, pipe gun and desk fan I come across. I wanted something that would speed up salvaging without removing weight limits when tramping around the Commonwealth.

I tried to make this mod lore friendly. The idea is that after clearing the area, you're taking stock and making a shopping list. Once your settlers arrive at the location, they go through your checklist and haul the designated stuff back to the settlement. This is an expensive operation, so it costs you caps. (Or set cost to 0, lol.) Mechanically, you're just grabbing everything in sight using a weight carry buff and then dumping it in a mailbox with a Salvage Beacon, but this idea feels more immersive. A lot of this game is pretend anyway.

You can craft the Picklist Options item at a cooking or chem station with a piece of cloth. Activate it to open the settings menu. (It weighs a pound so you'll have an incentive to use it and then dump it, rather than tweaking the cost every time you're broke.) There are several settings you can customize.

Settings

Fencing Options
  • Change of location ends the effect. If you start inside and go outside, or vice versa, the weight buff will stop.
  • Effect continues after location change, tether doesn't update. You can go back and forth between inside and outside as long as you don't leave the world area. The outside tether stays fixed when you go inside and won't change when you come back out. If you started inside, a tether will activate at the spot you exit from.
  • Effect continues after location change, tether updates. You can go back and forth between inside and outside as long as you don't leave the world area. When you leave an indoor area, the outside tether will re-center on the spot you exit from.

Combat Options
  • Combat kills the effect. If you're salvaging and get caught by an enemy, the effect will stop and you'll have to use another Picklist (and pay the cost) after shredding them. Make sure to clear the area fully before salvaging.
  • Combat pauses the effect. If you're salvaging and find an enemy, the weight buff will disable until you're out of combat. You don't get to sprint around in combat while overburdened, but you don't waste a Picklist.
  • Combat has no effect. Start that Picklist when you enter the place and go nuts with the Big Boy.

Activator Options
  • You can set Picklists to be one-shot or reusable. One-shot means you have to craft multiple Picklists and they'll be used up as you activate them. When reusable, you only need to carry 1 and it will re-add itself to your inventory when used.

Caps Cost
  • You can adjust the caps cost in increments of 50 caps, with 0 as the min.

FAQs

  • Is the weight carry infinite? The effect adds 10,000 lbs to your weight carry. I haven't come across any place in game with enough junk to max this out. If you're still overburdened at 10k lbs, you're probably doing it wrong.
  • Do I need to use Salvage Beacons? No, this mod doesn't require it. Your weight buff will stop when you leave the salvaging area, so a mod like Salvage Beacons will keep you from having to walk slowly back to the settlement.
  • Can I use a bunch of Picklists to walk back to base on little islands of infinite weight? Yes, but maybe try a different mod. There are plenty of no-weight-limit mods out there.

Installation and Requirements

This mod has no mod dependencies. I don't believe it uses any code exclusive to F4SE, but I've never run it without F4SE to verify. Let me know if you find any problems.

This mod is pretty light and shouldn't affect anything else in the game. In my experience, you can install it mid-game without issues. To remove the mod, deactivate it in the settings menu and remove any mod items from your inventory, then disable the mod. ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR SAVES BEFORE INSTALLING, UNINSTALLING OR ADJUSTING MODS!

Please let me know if you find any bugs or issues as you use this mod.
