I recently noticed on my end that the provided voice files do not actually work, except for Vault-Tec Workshop which at first I thought it's how it should be, but it's kinda not.
Main game, Far Harbor, Automatron and Nuka World still played only the original compressed files from the Data folder (I installed the mod through MO2). I also found out that the 3rd part of hq audio (Vault-Tec Workshop) was the only file named with the 'voices_en' suffix among others which have just 'Voices' in the name file.
So I renamed the files (parts 0,1,2 and 4 of HQAudio) with this suffix. I thought logically that if the 3rd part worked with it then other files would also work. And it really worked, kinda dumb luck but whatever.
Tested on steam version by talking with Gage - main character's and Gage's voices now sound crystal clear, same with Travis' radio voice.
I think that the .ba2 files have the wrong name because the manual installation instruction has the correct names of dlc voice files with 'voices_en', except for main game file. But this is even more confusing because that line works only for the main game, not the dlcs.
I dunno about the silent intercom and/or holotape issue, but the holotapes sound fine I think (tested on two holotapes - one from main game, other from Far Harbor)
Btw the 3rd part still has the duplicate .esp file inside the sound folder, nothing serious but kinda pointless, missclick probably
Just thought I should share this since it might work for someone else who struggles with a similar issue. Hope that any of this is at least a bit understandable, sorry in advance xd
I tested this out and it seems to work. Thank you for this reply! I did not know that some mods use voice lines from game data, so I will recommend this method for installing this mod.
The general wisdom is that a BA2 file shouldn't exceed 4096MB or it might not work correctly, I have personally confirmed that's the case with texture files at least.
The base game PS4 file is 11GB. Has anyone tested this to confirm that it works correctly and there are no missing voices?
it works, i backed up my vanilla voice files and replaced them with these by renaming them to the corresponding files. though im not too sure if it causes quicksave crashes, cause thats what im currently dealing with
I installed everything and followed the instructions step by step but still hearing the crappy compressed voices.
I installed this mod when it was released, but intercoms were bugged, resulting in a softlock in Nuka World, this must be fixed now i presume.
I have a downgraded game and everything needed to mod the game. If this mod is "unsupported" or just, has a different way of installing then let me know.
If you install LOST after installing Fallout 4 High Quality Audio, let LOST overwrite anything that it needs to, and put LOST above my mod in the load order, it should work.
So, do we actually need the main file? Since it's a pretty big mod i wanted to know, from the description you make it seem like it doesn't actually change much but then why would you leave a big download there? Thanks
I don't really care about saving space as i have a lot, i mostly care about having the best quality, but it's not clear if that file actually has more quality from the way its description is worded, just wanted to know that :)
I can't thank you enough. I have a very very expensive system that is 5.1. I noted that the bass is improved immediately. Looking forward to your update. By the way, your instructions are well done. I used LOOT to change the metadata.

HQAudio0 - Voices.ba2
Fallout4 - Voices.ba2 <--- also the "_en" suffix doesn't apply for the PS4 Voices file
HQAudio1 - Voices.ba2
DLCRobot - Voices_en.ba2
HQAudio2 - Voices.ba2
DLCCoast - Voices_en.ba2
HQAudio3 - voices_en.ba2
DLCworkshop03 - Voices_en.ba2
HQAudio4 - Voices.ba2
DLCNukaWorld - Voices_en.ba2
