I really like Far Harbor. But the overused FPS tanking mist particles ruin it for me. The fog weather alone was perfectly fine.
Instead of editing all cells to remove the particles, I edited the particles themselves to not spawn anything. (There's about 3000 particle entities used on the map) Now I didn't use a FPS counter, but I could tell that my game stopped dropping FPS at all on the entire island after making the particles useless. The only mist left is the basic Radiated mist particles you see in regular radiated areas or the ones carried in by weather.
I also modified Far Harbor's climate settings a bit, so it can rain more often. 50% Mist chance 20% Rain chance 20% Fog chance 5% Radstorm chance 5% Clear weather chance
