New mechanics
1. Your flashlight/night vision /thermal will heat up when on and cooldown when off. If they overheat, they will either switch off or emit radiation (user choice).
2. They now use fusion cells as a power source. If you run out of fusion cells, they will switch off or emit radiation.
3. A stealth fix allows NPCs to detect you properly while you are in darkness with your flashlight on. An expanded standalone version of this fix is available here.

• Compatibility patches for most night/thermal vision mods.
• All features can be individually disabled and tweaked in the MCM.
• It should work out of the box with all other mods, including Pip-Boy Flashlight, weapon light mods etc.
• Optional patches to enable these features with night vision mods (West Tek and XM2010 currently supported).
• Custom made sounds based on a Casio watch are used to indicate your flashlight’s status.
• Features are automatically disabled in workshop mode and in power armor, though this can be re-enabled in the MCM.

The lore
Spoiler:
Show
Most flashlights and night vision goggles remaining in the Commonwealth are pre-War devices designed to run on micro-fission batteries. As these batteries are all long since extinct, a few ingenious wastelanders set about converting flashlights to run on fusion cells instead.

The first problem they encountered is that fusion cells are optimized for laser weapons and are designed to release their energy very quickly; forcing them to release it slowly causes the cells to heat up. Once their maximum operating temperature is exceeded, cells will quickly become unstable and begin to emit radiation. You may prefer to let your flashlight power off automatically to avoid this.

Another problem arises from the continued use of a cell once it has been depleted below the safe minimum charge threshold, resulting in the same instability and radiation emission, or power off.

Safe operation of flashlights therefore requires you to be wary of two things at all times:

1. Monitor your flashlight’s temperature and listen for audible warnings. Switch your light off periodically to allow it to cool.
2. Keep your light supplied with charged fusion cells.
