About this mod

This mod is meant to fix the annoying pink sights issue that occurs with some graphics drivers, such as AMD.

Description

This mod is intended to fix the AMD bug where sights may render as pink-ish due to some GPUs being unable to handle missing environment maps. As such, the only way to fix it is to add an environment map to the sights, or disable environment mapping. This mod just disables the environment mapping for the sights from Niero's excellent
Ruger Mk. V mod.

Contents

The mod has 2 versions for download - One version which simply disables the environment mapping, and another version which doubles the brightness of the sights to make the reticles glow a bit more. Both versions are labeled appropiately.

Installation

To install, simply download your preferred version (Only one or the other, not both), using a mod manager of your choice or manual install via unpacking into the
/Data folder of your game directory. If you use a mod manager, place this mod below Niero's Ruger mod, as this needs to override the material files to function as expected.

Uninstalling

To uninstall, disable and remove via mod manager, or if you installed it manually, follow these steps:
  • Find the "FX" folder within your materials folder by following this file path "CROSS\weapons\ruger\" and delete the 6 folders inside.
  • Find the "FX" folder within your textures folder by following this file path "CROSS\weapons\ruger\" and delete the "LaserBeam.dds" file.

Bugs

If there are any bugs related to this mod, please do let me know in a bug report. As this mod is a simple asset replacement of the material files, the only bugs you could reasonably encounter with this mod would be related to using an ENB or another mod overwriting these exact same files, or I made a mistake somewhere in the material files.

Note: If you are using an ENB and the brighter glow version - use the original version if your sights are too bright.
