Just a small mod for once. I got sick and tired of all the 10 mm pistols in the game and the lack of genuine .38 caliber pistols which were supposed to be the reason why .38 caliber ammo is so ubiquitous in the Commonwealth, so I used the meshes for the .44 Magnum to create a tiny pocket pistol which acts as a starter weapon with limited upgrade capabilities and two legendary uniques in the vanilla gameworld.




-= Introduction =-


In order to make the 10mm pistol more valuable at the start of the playthrough (and therefore give both the pipe weapons and the .38 caliber pocket pistol a reason to exist in the first place) I did perfprm some surgery on the leveled lists for handguns in the vanilla game. And yes, the patient did survive and is alive and kicking. :D
This mod changes the LL_10mm_Pistol and LL_10mm_Pistol_SemiAuto leveled lists a bit to prevent standard 10mm pistols from spawning until the player has reached level 5, and LL_10mm_Pistol_Auto will now spawn automatic versions at level 7. I also replaced some of the fixed spawns for 10mm pistols as well as the random weapon spawns around Sanctuary Hills and in the low-level areas in a logical and reasonable way and replaced them with .38 caliber pocket pistol spawns, which means the player will less likely run into one of the 10mm pistols at the start of the game. The 10mm pistols now will mostly spawn in areas with military installations, while rural areas with a mostly civilian pre-war population will feature the pocket pistols instead (while raider camps can spawn both). There are also two legendary versions of the 38 pocket pistol, see the explanations below. The ultimate goal is to de-incentivise the usage the 10mm pistol a little bit and make it slightly more valuable while providing more potential for both the .38 caliber ammo and the pipe guns to improve immersion a bit. After all, pipe guns have no real reason to exist if everyone and their brother can run around with a 10mm pistol, and .38 ammo would be of no use in the pre-war era if there was no gun to shoot it with so it simply wouldn't be as ubiquitous as it is now.

Attention! Due to its nature with the modified weapon spawns this mod should be used among with a fresh playthrough. Otherwise it might conflict with existing weapon spawns and you end up finding two weapons at a spawnpoint instead of just one.



-= Description =-


The .38 Pocket Pistol can only be chambered in .38 caliber (obviously!).

4 receivers (standard and 3 damageimprovements)
2 barrel types (snub-nose and normal)
2 types of grips (standard andimproved)
2 sights (iron sights and green dotreflex sight).

Base damage: 24 (can be upped to 42damage with the advanced receiver)
Base weapon weight: 2 lbs
Base AP cost: 25


Where to find them:
- At various spawn points in the Commonwealth itself. Most notably in rural areas such as Sanctuary Hills and the area around it (for example, you can find one in the fixed spawn point in the open safe close to the raider camp near the water pump with the hidden cap stash)
- In the loot table of raider bosses. Of course they're gonna keep the good stuff for themselfs while their minions have to use pipe guns :P
- On Triggermen. Classy killers need classy weapons, after all.
- On Railroad agents. The RR is the faction which profits the most from this weapon, as it provides a handy yet powerful tool to eliminate potential threats with ammo which is easy to come by.

-= Legendary versions =-


Little All Right:
„Lucky“ effect (critical meterfills 15 % faster, critical hits deal double the damage). You can find it in Jamaica Plain, in the grey house at the north-eastern edge with the garage. It's in the hand of the female skelleton (where a generic pistol spawn point used to be)


Dad's Care Package:
„Staggering“ effect (30 % chance tostagger an enemy). It's in the shower in Sanctuary Hills and replaces the 10mm weapon spawn point there, in the house with the booby-trapped safe and the locked computer terminal.

As mentioned before, I edited theleveled lists for the 10mm pistol a bit to make them spawn later in the game. The edited lists are as follows:

LL_10mm_Pistol_SemiAuto
LL_10mm_Pistol_Auto



I also replaced a few of the followingspawn point markers in the game:
DummyNoEdit_Weap_All_Short
DummyNoEdit_10mm



They've been replaced with:
DummyNoEdit_Weap_Revolver


You can find 27 of these markers in the vanilla gameworld now. They will use their own leveled lists to spawn and therefore can not spawn in any weapons injected into the normal LL_Weapons_Guns_Short usually associated to DummyNoEdit_Weap_All_Short
