Rise of the General

You're at Starlight - standing on the bridge, enjoying the view of the waterfall, when Stan finds you. All those muscles mixed with his unique, regal sounding drawl always makes you smile.

“General! We’ve done it! The Castle residents are building with those boxes of ASAMs you sent over,” Stan sweetly oozes with his usual flair. “You will be most pleased with the progress I’ve… er… we’ve made.”

Oh, there it is, Sweet Diva. “More words,” you say out loud. And seeing it’s going to be a while, you decide to sit in your big chair. Dogmeat circles; lies down at your feet; looks up at Stan.

“Well, that... Ronnie Woman has really whipped those kids into shape and there’s a lot of training going on. Properly equipped and trained forces are finally possible.” Stan's fingers gently twist the ends of his black mustache. “And there’s more,” he quips, leaning in, clearly ready to burst.

You spread your hands, palms up. Expansive. Waiting.

“General, we have created a proper home for you. At least the beginnings of one. I am told the view is stunning.” A literal bow. “And there’s more. Let me tell you about your big chair.”

He really does like to impress. Leaning forward, you rest elbows on knees, chin in hands. “Tell me everything.”

To be sure you enjoy Stan’s complete experience, this mod requires the Following with Designer's Choice: ON:

The following plot types are included at level 3:
3 Agri, 1 Comm, 3 Indust, 1 Martial, 4 Munic (1 Adv Pwr, and 1-Str Training), 4 Rec, 9 Res

26 Beds, 26 Jobs (three jobs are endurance training in one plot and one job is random agri via the one Razorgrain and several Hubflowers around the settlement.

You will need to increase the build limit 100% x3.

The Settlement Levels are: 12, 16, 20, 26 settlers respectively at L0, L1, L2, L3.

*There are 3 extra jobs at L3 if you are following the above requirements and GwenstheName’s Settlers at Play plot is built inside the radio shack. That plot builds with 2, 3, 4 jobs as it levels up. This means you could add three beds and end up with 29 settlers at the Castle!

With the Castle at over 20 settlers, please note the Triangle of Death issue that also occurs for the Castle, Warwick and Spectacle Island. My advice is to skip building in one of those three during this playthrough.

I designed this settlement to provide you with flexibility. With a plot change or two, it can be a very different settlement. There’s also a whole corner I left for you to build on.

Simply Settled Castle was designed to be used with mods like Seasons by frogprincessQ4. An example is in the whole second set of photos in the images section. They were taken with the Summer Season, (as well as Vivid Weathers, HD Moon with Phases and Visible Galaxy) and nothing else. As a minimum, a nice grass mod and ivy mod are recommended if you like the look shown in those pics.

This settlement includes a player home and is survival playthrough friendly (vanilla water, stove (in cafeteria), razorgrain, bed, etc. I left the stove in the home plain so you can switch it out if you like. It also made it easier to change it for the “All the Mods” version.

I like to build settlements with things to ‘do’. So in addition to needs, you’ll find:
  • A desk with terminal (upstairs player home)
  • A shooting range (four targets at L3)
  • All crafting stations

Note: Inevitably, in all city plans, minor issues arise some of the time
1) Let’s talk about power. It likes to break. First, try grabbing the plot and letting it go. It will rebuild and grab onto working radiant power if there is some.

2) So far, simply grabbing the power pole and letting it go again seems to solve most other issues. But a couple of constants seem to be:

The Corner Pole under your Player Home (pictured here).

3) In testing I found that sometimes the tiny generator on the entryway ceiling (where the workout plot is) stops working. If you send the little wire to the workbench, then rewire the tiny generator to the connector power should resume in the area.

Ironically, it’s that plot that sometimes doesn’t correctly build in testing. It should be: [VTT] Power Gym by Samutz

3) If the soda fountain doesn’t power up, there is a connection just above it on the ceiling. Wire it. Done.

4) When the settlement first builds, three poles may be placed where the three Industrial plots will build. Weird one, since only one plot actually builds at L0, but there it is. You can safely delete all three poles. The plots will then look for the provided radiant power.

If you have power issues beyond what I’ve described here, I recommend two options:
  • Cheat! Use the mod from my recommended section below: Alex’s Settlement Power Pylon It’s a nice cheat to have on hand for settlement-wide radiant power.
  • Use the mod, “Very Small Generators” and throw power in where it’s needed.

Because I use these plans myself, I like to leave some room for a bit of personalization and sprinkle of plants, furniture exchanges, etc., particularly in or around the player home. In case you'd like to know some of my favs, those mods are:

Spoiler:
Show

Art Connoisseur System - A Framework Love this mod and you will too (oodles of pictures, calendars).
Castle Bay Cleanup It's new to me, but worth giving a try since it's merely a bat file.
Creative Gardens and Spring Add-on from FrogPrincess Discord more interesting plants, pots, etc.
CWSS As I mentioned, I like to do things at settlements, even if it’s just taking a shower. Note: This link takes you to a thread in the Creative Modding Discord Server. You must join/accept rules/choose roles to get to this thread. But since there’s also help for F04 City Plans (and so much more) there, it’s worth your time to join. Just remember to be nice and follow the rules.
Looks Mirror An essential in my book. Great companion to CWSS.
Immersive Fast Travel Highly recommended because you’ll like it (motorcycle or other transport station).
Videos of the Wasteland I have taken this one on and off my list, but in the end, I love to see a working TV in a settlement.

Bethesda.net Options that I've used for years and consider essentials for making a nicer player home:
Creative Clutter
Do it Yourshelf
Modular Kitchens

Off-Site Option that I love:
V’s Stylish Decor One of my favorite mods of all time. This and Creative Clutter together are my essentials.

Generally Recommended because they’re cool:
Alex’s Settlement Power Pylon It’s a nice cheat to have on hand for settlement-wide radiant power.
Easy Homebuilder and Double Working Beds I love this mod.
Robot Home Defense to beef up your settlement protection.
Seasons by frogprincessQ4. Yes, I’ve tried the others. And they are awesome. But I really like that I can:
1) install and change the seasons on a whim (and not break my save) and,
2) it’s just one mod for grasses and trees and comes with LOD. For some of my city plans, you’ll want to consider using something green, or a mod like, Delightful Ivy.
V’s Books Retexture - Changes all book covers in game. A nice way to spice up the vanilla assets.
