01. Summary

A lot of mods allow you to look like the T-800/Arnold, but have you ever wanted a mod that allows you to actually talk like him?

This mod will replace the voice of the main protagonist with a new voice that closely resembles that of a Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger. Many dialog lines in the game are also replaced with one-liners and memes like "Get to the choppa!" or "Hasta la vista, baby!" For female protagonists, your voice now resembles TSSC's Cameron (Summer Glau).



02. Requirements

This mod is split into multiple plugins which I will go into more detail about below. You can customize your experience quite a bit, but you will need to install and activate most of them for the complete experience. This is a big one so prepare at least a few gigabytes of space and don't ignore the Video folder if you're using cinematic-related plugins, your game will crash if you don't copy that too.

You need an English version of Fallout 4. If you have Fallout 4 in another language, you'll need to rename the files that have "Voices_en" in them to something else. For example, it's "fr" for French. You can also just change your game's language to English from Steam. Cinematics for non-English might require the loose file version, I'll have that up too.

When it comes to the load order of the mods, you need to have them placed last on the list, in this exact order, no buts, no exceptions:

There are no other special requirements. Talk Like Arnie doesn't require the Script Extender or other third-party mods.

Talk Like Arnie is available for PC and Xbox One. There is no PS4 version and there never will be because it's impossible to upload any new assets there. I've only managed to upload the Arnie face to PS4 because it doesn't require external 3D models.

03. Details and Features

If you play a male protagonist, you will sound like a Terminator Arnold.

If you play a female protagonist, you will sound like Cameron, the female Terminator from The Sarah Connor Chronicles TV Show played by Summer Glau. Highly recommend watching that by the way if you haven't already.

This also affects spouse dialog.

The mod also replaces many key dialog lines with Arnold one-liners and other memes. For example, instead of the usual lines with the Vault-Tec rep, you can tell him stuff like "I've seen you before, you're the asshole on TV." You can tell your wife "Get to the choppa!" as you're running for the Vault in the intro. Another funny feature is that you can say this line to some of the characters in the game now: "You're funny. That's why I'm going to kill you last." If this option is chosen, you may later get a chance to tell them you lied. The mod also comes with brand new intro and ending cinematics to fit the new voices, including an alternate intro for a Cameron / female protagonist. All player dialog lines from the vanilla game, DLC content, as well as all quest mods ever released by Toro Montana are covered here. Thuggysmurf's main mods (the Thuggyverse) and many other mods that contain player dialog are also covered.

There are a few notable exceptions as the following player dialog lines have not been modified:
1. all the Silver Shroud impersonation lines
2. the few cowboy impersonation lines from a quest in Nuka-World
3. lines that simply don't include any spoken words (silent files, cough etc.)

Dialog content from other quest mods may not be covered and there is no universal solution to this. If you're a mod author who is interested in this project, feel free to contact me and I'll release a patch that makes our mods fully compatible so that the player sounds like Arnold or Cameron in your quests as well.

05. Compatibility

Because of potential compatibility issues, I've broken up the mod into many plugins.

I can't really tell you which mods are going to cause issues with this mod, I don't know that, I don't play every mod out there. I can however tell you what is edited by the following plugins and let you decide what to use:

07. Known Issues

Scroll back up to the requirements if you use a non-English version of Fallout 4.

For compatibility issues, check the optional files. Maybe something over there will help.

Unfortunately, DLC player voices might not work on Xbox One, except the special lines in plugin 04. No solution at the moment because I can't rename .ba2 file names on the Bethesda.net platform. Need someone to test it out.

08. FAQ

Q: Do I need to start a new game?
A: No, but you'll miss out on all the lulz in the pre-War starting zone.

Q: Is there a mod that allows me to look like Cameron/Summer Glau?
A: I don't have one, but feel free to make one and I'll mirror it.

Note that the vast majority of dialog lines are deepfaked using xVASynth as it wouldn't be realistic to record over 20000 lines and manually fit them into the game. They will sound robotic, but that's the whole point.

10. Disclaimer

This is a parody of the targeted content (the Terminator series, the Fallout series, the mods etc.) don't take it too seriously or too personally.

No files from user-submitted content (mods) are being distributed. I do not redistribute plugins or audio files from other modders in either their original or edited form and I don't need to. All voice files are generated from scratch using xVASynth and merely share the same path as the original files. They are not the same files.

The same goes for Fallout 4 files. These are entirely new files (not edited versions of the original files) with new voice actors and they both consented to have their impressions of Arnold/Cameron modeled with AI for this project.
