Rad Radio Revolution
-The Only Radio Mod You Need-

How Is This Mod Different From Other Radio Mods
Almost Every radio mod on Nexus that adds a *new* radio station has one or more of following Issues:
  • The radio station will eventually stop playing music and will only play silence after some hours have passed. This is the notorious radio silence bug. There is only 1 other radio station mod on nexus that fixes this bug and it was made by CDante (mod author of transfer settlements). This issue can also be fixed by uninstalling the mod loading the game saving without the mod and then re-installing but will happen a few hours later again.
  • The new radio stations will play music right away in pre-war sanctuary. This breaks immersion and you will see a popup showing that you have found the new stations will in pre-war sanctuary
  • The radio stations have no DJ and/or are named in such a way that breaks immersion and does not fit the lore of the game
  • Mods like the one CDante made are incredible but are built in such a way that makes it impossible to customize and comes pre built with songs. To be clear however if thats all you want mods like CDante's radio mod are amazing get them yesterday. Other stations suffer the above issues but allow for more flexibility in customizing the station but no radio mod resolves the issues and allows for customization and integrates in a lore friendly way.
  • Most radio mods on nexus do not randomized tracks instead they play every track in the same order every time
  • Many radio mods on nexus do not have the option to build radios tuned to the frequency of the custom station in your settlement

So now we get to this radio mod. This radio mod resolves all the issue stated above.
  • I implemented the radio stations so that they do not play right at the start of the game in pre-war Sanctuary.
  • The radio stations are found via finding a holotape on top of the building workshop in Sanctuary which is a programed frequency tuner that scans and finds frequencies in use and allows you to tune into them. There is a lore friendly note next to the tuner detailing why it was built and what happened to the owner 5 years ago.
  • You will have access to 2 unique radio stations which you can use to put in your personal music. All you have to do is use MultiXwm to convert your personal music to XWM and rename the tracks 1, 2, 3, etc and place them in the following folder directory: Steam Games\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Sound\fx\mus\radio\Select a Radio Station Folder. Additonally if you want to change the radio station name in xedit it very easy given the simplicity of this mod allowing for additional customization
  • The first station is "Rad Radio Hits of the 2280s" and it supports up to 28 tracks. The second station "iRevolution Radio supports up to 70. You do not need to use all 70 or 28 tracks you can use 20 or 30 tracks of the 70 if you want for example.
  • There are 10 unique female voice acted DJ tracks built into the 70 track station which come with the mod and are the first 10 tracks (track 1-10). These DJ tracks detail the story of the station and the DJ running the station in a lore friendly manner. The DJ will make jokes about weather, provide survival tips and personal stories and anecdotes. This technically only allows for 60 songs to be placed into the station but if you prefer you can replace the DJ tracks as well giving you up to 70 song slots.
  • All tracks are fully randomized for both stations
  • Settlement Radios can be built that are tuned to the radio stations
  • The radio silence bug is fixed with this mod. In addition the holotape also has a reset function which resets the stations in a lore friendly way and works as a emergency backup should the radio silence bug occur for any reason. This means you do not need to uninstall and re-install the mod rather you just reset the radio station and its fixed.

- Includes 3 Tracks from the DJ Audio Files (minor spoiler of what to expect)-

What Was the Radio Silence Bug?
The radio silence bug was essentially a issue that would happen when you were not listening to a radio station and the game script playing it would eventually start playing all the tracks one immediatly after another every 1 second until it just stopped playing everything all together. Now CDante fixed this by engineer a invisible radio that would play the music but silently and had it spawn at the player every 30 seconds and would delete the last radio spawned so in effect the music was never not playing in game which avoided this bug. Now what I did is I went over the vanilla radio stations and exactly duplicated them. What I found is that every radio mod on nexus does not have a NPC "speaker" but all of the bethesda radio stations that work does have a NPC "Speaker". Meaning there is a NPC in the game at all times that is silently playing the radio from them but no audio is heard. In the institute this is a synth in the back you can talk to and this synth actually does a destruction count down as well. Effectively this system circumvents the issue via also having the radio station being played and heard its similar to what CDante did but I did it the way Bethesda did since that method was easier and required no additional scripts. That being said yes there are 2 NPC's added to the game that are the actual DJ's of the radio stations that I added you may find them you may not.

As a bonus I also included a option to reset the radio stations if you do run into any radio silence issue. This is only a emergency backup and is not required but makes a lore friendly in game way to fix the issue should it come up for any reason and is built into the holotape used to find the new radio stations.

Compatibility
Mods that make precombined meshes should be loaded AFTER my mod if you see chunks of the landscape missing this is a load order issue on your end. (mods that make precombined meshes are rare and if you dont know what im talking about then you dont have this mod - its used mainly for users who run on a potato and are trying to get some frame rate boosts.)

My mod is compatible with other radio mod too - I use channel 88 and 90 just so everyone knows. If you use another radio mod that uses those exact radio frequencies however you should edit either my mods frequency or their mods frequency in xedit - there might be 1 or 2 radio mods out there using these frequencies so I'm just trying to help you guys out in case it happens to you. Its very easy - in xedit under activator select the radio receiver and then under frequency change it to a different number like 87 or 86 or something. I don't expect this to come up much but if it does i want you to easily know which frequencies my radio is on.

Please Note: As of update v1.1 I have changed the radio station channel to use a unique number sequence not used by any other radio mod on Nexus or used by any mod in the Creation Club this should resolve all comparability issues between my mod and other radio mods.

Install
Install via a Mod Manager and replace the audio tracks with your own personal music. Its that easy. I detail more specifically how to replace audio files below in "How do you Add Your Music."

Last in game go to Sanctuary and on top of the build station will be a holotape and a note read the note and play the holotape to tune into the new radio frequencies and then the radio stations will be available.

How Do You Add Your Music? (It Only Takes 5 Minutes)
I personally love the post modern jukebox songs which takes modern songs of our day and covers them in a 1940s style. I use these songs for the Rad Radio but again you can use any music you want. This is just one example and hey maybe I open peoples eyes to the glory of post modern jukebox. Once you get all your songs in your library together that you want on your radio station use  MultiXwm to quickly at the click of a button convert the music to xwm and place them in the radio music directory: Steam Games\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Sound\fx\mus\radio\Select a Radio Station Folder. There should be 2 folders in there one for Rad Radio and one for iRevolution you just place the songs in there after converting them and rename the songs as 1, 2, 3, etc. and replace the tracks in there. Now keep in mind the DJ tracks are the first 10 tracks in the iRevolution Radio sound files folder so if you want the DJ you need to keep these 10 tracks and should start replacing track 11 on up. There are no DJ tracks in the Rad Radio folder so feel free to replace all tracks in there.
