About this mod:
It lets you recruit Kat and (optionally) Gus as settlers. You can find them west to Federal Ration Stockpile (a marker will show their location).
Kat is Level 4 merchant (frequently sells rare junk items). She's assignable in workshop mode. You can change her attire after recruiting her (she has some of the vanilla children outfits in her inventory). If she's not asssigned to a workshop store, she'll use her vanilla vendor container. She can't be hit in combat and can't fight. I managed to add a nice number of voice lines to her, both vendor and hello lines (i.e. several greetings, comments on Vault Suits, Power Armors, BoS uniforms, craving for snack cakes...).
Gus is a Level 50 Sentry Bot. While he's also assignable, he doesn't count in the setlement population and doesn't decrease settlement happiness. If you don't repair and recruit him during the recruitment quest, he can be recruited later only by using the Debug (Settings) Holotape. He's Protected so only the Player can kill him.
Workshop Stores for Children: I created some custom workshop stores that can be used by children. I actually just added some wood boxes to the vanilla workshop store meshes and adjusted the animation markers. They can be hidden from the build menu by using the Debug (Settings) Holotape. See images for a better view.
During the recruitment quest, Kat and Gus act as a temporary follower. The Raiders have "aggro radius behavior", which means they attack only if you walk too close to them. This mod is completely standalone, it doesn't overwrite any vanilla record.
About the Debug (Settings) Holotape:
I made this holotape for general troubleshooting.
- Show / Hide Kat's and Gus' location on / from your Pip-Boy's map
- Teleport Kat or Gus in front of you
- Power Up / Shut Down Gus
- Open the "Workshop Assignment Menu" (the one that can be seen during the recruitment quest) for Kat or Gus
- Add every vanilla Children Outfit to Kat's inventory (since you can take unequipped oufits from her inventory, there's a chance they might get lost)
- Turn on / off the ability to build "Children Workshop Stores" (if you turn it off, you won't see them in the workshop build menu)
It won't be automatically added to your inventory. It's craftable at any Chemistry Station (Utility section).
Optional file - Diverse Children Patch:
If you use Diverse Children, you can use the "Diverse Universe Patch" to change Kat's appearance. Credits: niston.
