About this mod

It makes lockpicking similar to Skyrim. It will make Advanced, Expert and Master locks available to pick even if you don't have any Locksmith perk. But those locks will be difficult to open if you don't have the respective perks.

This mod has a successor: Ultimate Lockpicking.

Description

I started a new game with LockyBastard and while on vault 111, I managed to unlock the cryolator master lock with 1 bobby pin without breaking it. 3 times in a row. As a level 1 character. With no perks. That bothered me. So I set out to make an ungated lockpick that offered some difficulty like in Skyrim.

What it does:
  • Allows you to try to unlock any lock, not mattering the perks you have.
  • Advanced, Expert and Master locks are 10x more difficult to unlock without the relevant perks.
  • With the relevant perks, unlock difficulty is just like vanilla.
  • Novice locks are untouched, they work just like in vanilla.

Compatibility

  • Not compatible with any mod that changes the Locksmith perks. A version for LockyBastard is provided (use that file only, without the other main file).
  • Mods that alter the lock levels sweet spot should be compatible since I don't touch those values. For example, if you have another mod that makes finding the sweet spot more difficult, my mod will only make it even more difficult, but respecting the values setup by this other mod. But better check in xEdit to see if there's any conflicts.

Uninstallation

THIS IS FOR THE MAIN NON-LOCKYBASTARD VERSION ONLY. (LockyBastard version can just be removed. Although you will have the same problem if you remove LockyBastard, since both mods use the same method to ungate. If you remove LockyBastard you can do this method to fix your lockpicking).

Information will be saved in your savegame, so it's required to execute some console commands to properly uninstall. If you don't and just remove the mod, you might lose access to Expert and Master locks.

To properly uninstall this mod, you need to remove it from your mod manager, enter the game, open the console and execute:

player.removeperk 000FA292

This will remove the hidden/unused base game perk (PlayerBaseLockpick) that this mod uses to do its thing. You can safely remove this perk because it's not used by the base game. LockyBastard also uses this perk, so do not remove it if you use that mod.
